I got rear ended a month a go by a woman driver and got the car back two weeks ago. As I was driving home tonight I was waiting in traffic AGAIN when a man in a BMW bumped me alittle. Being a subaru the bumper has no damage (it was dark) but the paint had cracked.

I took him name, mobile number, comapany name, reg and address but he did not have any other docs on him all all
He told me its a company car so he does not have insurance co. name
He also claims to be the owner of the company. I asked him who he works for after reading the logo on him T-shirt.

He had no more docs to give me so he jumped in him car a drove off.
I called the police straight away and they told me they will try and pick him up as he told me he was on his way to NE1 5ES

Iv not yet called my insurance or him.
What actions should I take?
Im not sure but if I had to pay for my excess it would me cheaper and easier to get the work sorted out myself.
I dont think he should get away with it but what can the poilce do now as they will not be able to check if he was drinking and driving?

Give his details to the police and say he rear ended you, gave you minimal details and refused to hang around when you called the police - you suspect he had been drinking!

They will contact him about leaving the scene of an accident and get insurance details off him at the same time.

It shouldnt affect your insurance at all!

Ray, I would get a quote for the repair asap and then decide what to do.
Inform your insurance company but tell them you haven't decided if you want to claim or not yet.

By the way can you send me the dates of service so I can sort that paperwork out you requested.

Iv contacted my insurance and told them to get the ball rolling but inform me with any actions as i might stop it if anything pops up.

Had a quick look this morning (i mean quick, late for work) the paint has chipped and the paint around the impact area has cracked.

Been down the police station today and they cany match the car reg with their data base. So Iv called the insurance Co. and they said they will have difficulties too.

was only about 1 month ago when some hit my rear bumper again i pull over to see the damage and hes away on the 1st junction in peak time traffic be the 4th time ive had to get that bumper resprayed

I called the bloke and he said there was no damage to my car or his and does not admit liability.
Been dowm the cop shop and filling out paper work to say he was drinking and driving.

Looks like im gonna have to tell the insurance co. to stop all actions and pay for a respay myself.

Is there any think I can do? Gonna pop down his work place to double check the reg.

do what i usually do , always carry a dispossable camera in your glove box that way if you had taken pictures the camera never lies and you woiuld be putting a none fault claim in now has helped me out a couple of times people dont like you taking the pictures , but f**k em as i dont like people hitting my car
