What size is the lamba sensor thread ??
Mods: i need a quick answer on this one, appreciated if you leave it here, cheers.
I need to re-tap (or basically clear out) the thread to the hole on my magnex decat downpipe that takes the lamba sensor and i need it done by next friday
In order to do this i need to get a tap that is the right size. i've seen this tap reseater here.
would this be suitable, if not which size do i get ?
Desparate for answer guys, need to order one online now
cheers
chris
BTW if it helps, car is an MY99 Sti5

I think the thread may be the same as the wideband sensor which is M18 x 1.5.
If you run a search on www.jlindustrial.com - UK section - then you should find individual taps at £14 /£16 list. Some discount can generally be negotiated. If makes mean nothing to you then I have good success with Galtona.

Agreed, M18 x 1.5.
To clean the thread cheaply buy a spark plug for a Ford SOHC pinto engine, from anything from 1976 Escort RS2000 to 2.0i Sierra. Use an angle grinder to cut a slot in the thread, at an angle to the thread and tapered away from the thread. Then wind it into the the thread and it will act vaguely like a tap and clean the thread. Should cost about £2.

many thanks for your replies guys, job done.
With your help I have now sorted the problem
I went to halfords initially to buy a 2.0l sierra spark plug, but they only came in packs of four for £13. so i went and had a look in the tools section and found an 18 / 14 mm thread chaser (luckily as it was the last one), checked it against one of the sparg plug threads and bingo.
£3.99, bargain !
The power of Scoobynet never lets me down
Also i've noticed that ever since i've started modding my scoob my mechanics tool box has more than doubled
