Advice reqd : Sti8 vs Sti9 vs StiUK
I'm looking to change from my MY52 to an Sti spec scoob - whilst have been driving scoobs for 4 years now I am still a bit puzzled by the mass of different Sti Versions.
STi8 - been around for a while - does it have gold wheels as std ?
Sti9 - Is this the one with anthracite wheels
STiUK - whats all this about ? Is it an 8 or a 9.
Also given that the MY05 is about to hit the streets can we expect some good deals on the current Sti's ?
Help - I;m gagging to spend some money.

Ok so there is no such thing as an STi8 or STi9 the last STi made was the version 6.
So what do we have,
In Japan the first new shape (bugeye) Sti was the MY01. This did not make our shores until MY02 where the changes for the year included a heater housed aerial and illuminated ignition barrel. The MY03 was the first blobeye Sti, followed up by the My04 this year.
To further confuse matters the US market get an STi referred to as an MY05, because the US market numbers their years ahead.
If you were to insist on using STi7 etc, the MY01 JDM car was the STi7, the first UK Sti's would be STi8s, the blobeye was the STi9 and this year is the STi10.

AFAIK all STI's come with gold wheels as standard, the WR1 came with Anthracite 18" Prodrive alloys.
STI UK is just the badged version of the STi for the UK market. Rememeber 260bhp and not 280bhp (For JDM spec cars) optional PPP takes you to 301bhp.

Thanks Matt,
I've been reading lots of things about bouncy ride a few weeks back - I drove one at the weekend and it just seemed a lot firmer than my52 - infact a lot similar to the older MY99 I used to have.
So I'm looking for a STi9 but badged as a STi UK - or i could goto LitImports ?

Just to clarify (or not!)
My MY03 is actually a 52 plate (pre March 2003 by 2 weeks)
So as Matt said MY02=Bug Eye, MY03=Blob eye (As above)
Forget about the STI numbers, it just confuses...even though if you walk into a Subaru Garage and ask for an STI8, you will get a Blob eye MY03.....
