I'm had a couple of Scoobies in the past which I bought in Holland and the insurance wasn't affected. Make sure you tell them that it isn't a Jap import and that it is full UK spec, EXACTLY the same as sold by a UK dealer. MOst companies when they realise this are fine. Try Direct Line - they definately don't load for EU imports.

Cheers

its a uk car (spec.) they should only charge you more if it is a japanese import. I have a dutch import and it costs me the same to insure as a normal uk car.

Yep, my UK spec WRX came from Cyprus, no effect on insurance. Dont know what happends if you ever made a total loss claim given the value of an import is less than book value on a UK?! hope I never need to find out..

P.S. just be sure that you have a Cat 1 aftermarket alarm fitted though, was not standard on EU imports, no doubt the first owner would have had it fitted, if its the Sigma M30 its the same as the UK system Subaru fit so no problem.

It is a parallel import. See here.

The only other significant difference could be the service intervals, but I believe that these were the same for 52 reg onwards. (Obviously doesn't affect insurance though.)

You should'nt have to pay any extra if it's a Euro import, I would say they heard the word 'import' and rated it as a JDM import. Ring them up and sort it out.
