Sleepless Nights
#1
My other half has ordered a WRX from Japan from the Internet. He has been so excited and hasn't had a good nights sleep for quite a while (he will be able to pick up his scooby in about two weeks) therefore I haven't had a good nights sleep in ages either.
I thought that I would log on to this page and find out what it is all about (being a woman n' all).
So please (male/female) give me your general feelings about owning/driving a scoobie so that I can understand what is going on in my other half's head!

Take the best experience you have ever had.
Sexual/Drink whatever (my missus will kill me!)....times that by 4 and every time he drives it he will get that experience. It comes with a whole load of other advatages as well.
He will be the owner of one of the most envied cars that someone can own (of its day and price)- This has its advatnages and disadvantages (thieves, jealous key scratching merchants)
Its a cracking group to be a member of as well. Everones really friendly and most are knowledgeable and will help you no matter what.
I have to say its the best car I have owned and my mates want it every time they come out in it.
Its great. Bet he is a nightmare at the moment!
Well worth the wait.
Good luck.

I've only got a UK spec turbo with the prodrive packages added on, but from my point of view...
Do you remember the last time you went on a really fast rollercoaster and when you rolled to a stop after the ride, you had a complete grin on your face and despite the fact it cost you 2 quid, you had to queue for an hour and the bloke in front puked on you, your first thought was, "let's go again!"?
Well that's what a scooby does to it's drivers!

Thanks for getting back so quickly Ron. For a moment there I thought that no one would reply.
Anyway, since we have been together (4 yrs) all he has gone on about is owning a Scooby. So now you can imagine how he is after all this time. We even considered moving house so he could have a garage to put it in as we don't have one where we are now.
Also he recently took me to a Porsche and Scooby day at a Bentley Museum place down near E. Grinstead (I think) and I found out a lot there. I met quite a few women who owned Scoobies and they said that they are just brilliant.
He has also gone on about going on track days and I am slightly worried about that - have you ever been on a track day - if you have what did your other half think?

Welcome. Be prepared for a complete new obsession for your bloke. At times it may seem that he cares more about the car than you. This is not actually true, but may seem so at the time. He will twitter nervously beside you if he actually lets you drive it & spend hours cleaning it & cosseting it. All in all you might wish he'd never bought the damn thing.
However, if you go along with him, enthuse for the car, let him go on track days & to meetings, he'll love you even more than he does already & won't have time to stray (not that I'm saying he would) because the WRX will be his new mistress.
Every now & again call him a "Sad Git!" just to put him in his place.
That's what happens to me

Driving back from dorset yesterday and as you do, third gear full throttle through to 110 into the outside lane (not many cars around, btw) and from the back of the car, my 18 month old son was going, "WEEEeeee!!"
he doesn't say much that makes sense, but I was proud of him!

If you read it, Fee was asking from the perspective of a scooby widow & I was telling it as it happens to me & my better half who is not at all interested but quite understanding up to a point (those that know me know the point).
I'm all for lady drivers on the track but you won't see mine
Anyway John, I haven't noticed many women gracing your driving seat either, nor mention of any in your posts!

John & Puff,
Just to let you know. I am quite a lot younger than my other half and so insurance companies just laugh when I call to be insured - so I won't be able to drive the Scooby.
For my other half's birthday I sent him to go on a racing day at Brands Hatch - he said that the best bit was being driven around really fast by experienced drivers. So I might just see if I can be a passenger on a track day!
Anyway - at the moment I am quite happy at the moment driving my Mini - Ha Ha I hear you say, but actually the handling on a Mini is just right for me being so small.

Tis I, the other half.
Thanks everyone for telling Fee that a scoob is not a car but an obsession! Originally I told Fiona that buying a 4 door saloon was a compromise (future family and all that) but now the game's up!!
I hope once ownership has commenced both me and Fiona can sleep easier, but knowing me then I'll be up all night worrying if its still outside! Oh well.
At least the missus will get a free trip to Lakeside (or bluewater - I'm not fussed!)every time I go to Scoobysport.
Cheers
Justin Fiona, if you can't beat 'em......

Oh dear Puff, then again that Lopez woman has got expensive tastes....
Fee, my advice would be:
1. Listen attentively to all his ramblings about where he last drove his car.
2. Encourage him to 'pop down the shops' knowing full well he'll be gone for hours.
3. Whilst he polishes the car for the umpteenth time this month, reflect that he's not actually driving the thing, hence No. 1 won't happen for a while.
4. "SUL was only available in north Wales" may actually be true.
5. At least he will want to visit the wrinklies in Devon (A30 to avoid the jams).
Cheers

puff, you wont find anyone, male or female in the driving seat of my little beasty except for ME
That might just change in november though, when a certain person of the oposite sex gets a days coaching on track from me.
Remind me, whats in 3 weeks again?
Oh yeh, me lapping you at silverstone isn't it.
