How to enable auto lock

How to enable auto lock
This might have been up before but I remember ages ago someone asked me to post this so here you go.
Not sure if this works on anything pre 2001 but all cars after 2001 should work I think.
1. Turn on ignition
2. Press your remote fob - just a blip - not a long press
3. Press 4 on your keypad and then turn the ignition off right away.
Thats it.
*To turn off follow the same steps but press 5 rather than 4.
Now every time you start your car the doors will lock.
Cheers

Note :- Should you wish to have the doors remain unlocked, for example whilst de-icing, simply keep the drivers door ajar when starting engine.

is that ignition as in just electrics, or start the engine?
Any disadvantage to this? Can I still lock/unlock manually if desired (eg I pull up to a car park exit barrier and need to open the drivers door without switching off the engine) - will the little button still work?

They lock when you turn to ignition on (ie ignition light on) but not when in 'aux' position (Ie radio on).
You can still unlock each door manually if requied. And still use the 'all lock/unlock' button.
I have had this activated for a year now on my 03wrx and it works well.
The wife drives the car quite a lot and it saves her having to remember to lock them !!

Another thing worth reading up on in your instruction book, is how to disable keyfob entry. This feature is very useful when leaving your car for a while perhaps whilst on holiday. It lets you enter an instruction which allows the fob to arm the alarm/immob, but then needs your 4 digit code to disable it NOT the fob, so if some thieving ******* burgle your house while you're away they probably won't get your Scoob On your return, open the door with the key, the alarm will sound, enter the code and everything returns to normal (ie, fob works again). You can reprogram the code to something memorable too
Also, if you lose a key you can delete its use from the system by deleting all currently programmed fobs, then reprogramming the ones which you still have.
Worth reading up. All the features are standard to Sigma alarms. We have a VW with all the same features.

Mines an Eu model... are they different?

Scooby L, EU may have different alarm system, keypad is in the small fuse box just down from the intercooler water spray switch etc.
TMO, can't remember 100% if my 99 had this, I think it did. Check the blue alarm booklet it should say in there.

Yes & no. EU cars are exactly the same as UK, except on arrival in the UK International Motors fit a Sigma M30 Cat1 alarm/immob. You may have another brand of alarm which doesn't have the keypad, or its associated features. Or the keypad is hidden somewhere else.
Did you buy it from new as an import, if so the importer will know which alarm was fitted, if any? If 2nd hand, maybe the previous owner had one fitted ??

marky1 - if you start the engine with the door open, the doors don't lock. Only works if all doors are closed when turning the ignition.
Use it all the time.....great feature!
The locks are only activated when the ignition is turned, not everytime the doors close.
