Used or New Imported ?
I currently have a 94 UK Scoob and looking to get a new or newer one.
I have broused on the internet and autorader and came across a few new imported Scoobs for about the same money as some used ones. I have no knowledge of buying an Imported Scoob. Can anyone help me out there on getting a new imported Scoob and the pitfalls etc? If anyone can recommend a trusted importer aswell.
I have roughly £17000 to spend and Im from Kent.
Cheers
Stuart

No-one able to advise?
I have seen a company called 'Hondas' advertised in the autotrader. Anyone ever used them?

I don't think the exchange rate is very favourable to imports at the moment (at least Euro ones...).
I got my Scoob from Well Lane Turbo Centre, Batley, West Yorkshire. Very helpful and have loads of Scoobs in. I saved £1500 as I bought a Dutch import. My local stealer was offering one £500 cheaper, but 6 months old with 20k on the clock...bit of a no-brainer !!
If you can insure one, then why not get an almost new STI? I now wish that I'd done that...

Thanks James.
This 'Hondas' company is offering a new WRX registered to me for £16,250 where as local dealer it is about £20,000. Any ideas what the crack is??

I looked into imports when I was thinking of buying a Civic last year. The conclusion I came to was a) we pay too much for our cars here and b) the discount on purchasing an import can be short lived, you've normally got to fit a CAT 1 alarm, and there were rumours that most "Honda" dealers wouldn't service an import, not sure how true, but that could be a major pain. And would they really register it to you first, or would you be the second owner?
Also, whilst I think of it, a friend had hassle importing a car through a broker and lost a nice deposit.....
I weighed up the financial benefit against the time, risk and convinience and decided against it.....
Good luck either way mate

I've looked into it alot (for a new car)
EU Import list price - £17495 inc cat1 alarm
Uk dealer haggled price down to £18200 and this has an alarm (although probably not as higer spec as the aftermarket job quoted with the import, locking wheel nuts, plus free servicing at the moment (worth £750 over 30,000 miles)
I'm sure the price could be reduced with the importer, but with the added advantage that the UK supplied car will be easier to sell on i can't see any point in going for an import anymore (apart from the proper seats in an import, which is the only reason i am still entertaining the idea!!)
