Default Get petrol prices down

This is a must to for everyone.
Seriously, copy the text and send out an e-mail. Tell everyone you know!!
We all complain about the prices, and now we can all do something about it. Post it on every forum that you are a member of.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May!

The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol.

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that can
really work. Please read it and join in!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to
think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP at 77p -80p, we need to take
aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace not
sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers
need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of
petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing
their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two
biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not
selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.

If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Esso and
BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me
at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach
millions of people! I am sending this note to a lot of people.

If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the
time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have
reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE

Action:

It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your
petrol at Shell, Texaco, Tesco, Sainsburys, Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso.

This is getting very boring. Crude oil is currently quite expensive and hence so is your petrol. If you don't like it stop driving.....

This calculation also does not take into account the devastating effect this would have on our road network as those people who would normally buy from Esso & BP stations, try to find their nearest Shell station or other supplier!

Shell (for example) would consequently run out of petrol very quickly indeed and we'd all have no option but to go back to Esso & BP.

Not to mention the fact that these people would probably be spending more on petrol searching out their nearest Shell station and cause chaos at every station througout the country.

This arguament is fundamentally flawed.

People should really wise up to what is going on and to the fact that we cannot control OPEC's output by means of protest.

We can all economise in other areas. A couple less CDs a month. One less night out a month.

If you don't agree... you're wrong.

I obviuosly don't agree with the amount of tax on fuel, which is currently where most of the money goes, but if they don't get the money at the pumps, they get it out my wage packet, so what's the difference?

If you are bothered about fuel economy you've got the wrong type of car!
Assuming of course that you are a scoob owner and not just a wannabe

If you want to make a difference, then it's the government you want to tackle, not the oil companies.

Kick Blair out at the next GE. Not sure I'd be happy with the alternatives though.

When will these wallies ever learn

Why drive a car with approx 24 mpg (and then subsequently moan about pump prices) when there are cheaper cars out there that can do 60 mpg. Even an Elise does 40 mpg.

Get a life.

Cool

It would never reach 300 million people because most idiots that send these chain mails out all only know the same people so you will eventually get it back form around 30 other people who think the same way you do.

Boycotting petrol stations ain't going to work, just look at the chaos it caused last time and where did it get you ?????

nowhere that's where

One of the options they suggest is using Shell.... which is exactly what I do as I only use Optimax. However, I would not say that 89p/litre was particularly cheap (at my last fill).

Ermm, it did work, they lowered the price on petrol and it stayed low up untill now. Blaming the oil companies is bull**** as well, I think roughly 85p per pound of petrol is tax.

We blame the oil companies because when they raise the price of a barrel of oil the petrol goes up, but what we don't see on the news is the horrendous amount of tax that is put on petrol. The goverment sees the motorist as the golden goose - petrol tax, road tax, not wearing a seatbelt fines, speeding fines, etc etc.

Oh and by the way, if we all drove 1000cc cars instead of what...we...want to drive the petrol would still be expensive, we would just use less of it. The goverment would also **** bricks if the whole nation decided to drive cars like this.

I have a good idea, lets bend over, drop our trousers and continue to get *** fu*ked by the goverment....why not the British public always do.

At least the guy that did the chain letter is trying rather than just moaning.

Oh god....THE PETROL WOULD STILL BE DEAR!!

It isn't the amount it costs to fill up, if it cost me a tenner to fill up the petrol would still be daylight robbery.

I give up.

I dont pay for my petrol so it doesn't bother me, however, I think that the price of petrol is outrageous mainly because the government levy so much tax on it. The last time the petrol price was reduced because the government did as the public wanted. If you say nothing they keep on taking.

On another note, we moan about 85p a litre for petrol - how about bottled water - £1.19 in the petrol stations now - even more expensive!

I totally get what you are saying.....BUT, even though it would last longer the price of the petrol would still be dear. Think about it, if we used less petrol the goverment would just up the tax to get the same revenue from it.

It needs to be aimed at the government not the petrol companies!

They add the tax that makes it sooo bad, its not a fair tax either, it goes towards hospitals schools etc. but some people may more than others! How can this be a reasonable or fair tax when some people are forced to drive many miles for work or other commitments, does it mean they should get preferential service with hospital and schools?

Surely there is a better way of the government taking tax of us. All people contribute equally, depending upon their financial position. Why is it that the motorist pays for so much, we are not getting hammered with more fines on the road thanks to the growing number of cameras, surely we pay enough!

I think that all motorists should write to your local MP and the transport minister, let them know that this is a key voting point and one that will effect the way you vote. Hopefully this could become one of a parties election points. In my mind this will work better than trying to hurt the petrol companies!

Wont the petrol companies just expect us to buy it all on the next day anyway?

I think it's a cracking idea, the buyer should control the market, ESSO and BP will take loss in profits, hopefully put some serious pressure on the government.

Lobbying your MP will in my opinion does very little, hitting oil companies will.

Eventually if everyone sticks to their guns the market will fail and prices must fall.

It was the haulage industry who caused the last fuel protest, the were pacified by the government with lower road taxes, now it's time for the average motorist to take action.
