MY04 Rattles Already!!
My street where I live is infested with pot holes and I have to go over a lot of speed bumps on the way to work ....
I take the speed bumps at 10mph or less and still my car trim rattles, as its only done 1300 miles this has taken me by suprise!.
Is this a common thing for scooby's or should I get the trim done under warranty?
Cheers everyone.

I had trim rattles on my old MY00, but on my MY01 I've had none in more than 60000 miles. With that little mileage, I would be talking to your dealer.

Mine rattles and is the only thing thats lets the car down. Its an MY02 with 23000 on the clock. Worst ones are the whole stereo unit and something on the passenger side near one of the vents and also a really loud one coming from the rear when a passenger uses the seatbelt?! I think its the crappy panel that encloses the seatbelt parts. Jap crap as my mates say.....

To sort the problem out, you will need :-
1) A loud exhaust
2) New HKS Air Filter
3) Dump Value hehehehe

I've had mine back at the dealers twice under warrnty since new in Feb and it needs looking at again.
Therw was a thread a couple of months back and it seems that the blob eye rattles are usually from:
1. passenger door panel near handle
2. instrument surround
3. driver door panel where it touches the dash when closed
I presume dealers love doing this work as its paid warranty work.
Perhaps IM should have run a few cars in the UK to see what would happen on our roads?

MY 03 19k miles - no such problems, quality of the interior is good, no squeaks or rattles, the only noise i get is from the front speakers when something vibrates on loud deep bass tracks

My MY01 bugeye wagon was as tight as a gnat's chuff for the whole 9000 miles of ownership.... and the roads here are the WORST on the planet (NW Scotland). Not a sound.... from anywhere.... ever.
My new MY04 STI UK goes in for its 1000 miler tomorrow..... and there are loads of "tiny" trim rattles already..... but I don't care. I just put it down to the firmer suspension than the old car. Plus, my Bel Euro 550 rattles so much when its stuck in position, you can't hear anything else..... Of course, it has never actually been powered on.
When I sold my Toyota Landcruiser LC4 (brand new model; was £32k on the road ), even it had the odd rattle, with inches of plush suspension travel and 265/65/17 rubber.... so maybe it is a Jap thing!!

My dealer fixed mine as they billed it to their body shop (insurance repair on a new car after white van man cruched me).
They said they DO NOT get any money from IM for this as it is cosmetic.

As its been said, if you want a car with no rattles, dont buy a scoob, get a merc or bimmer.
