Unhappy flat tyre - replace 1 or 2?

Hi,

got a fecking slow puncture in rear tyre on my 3 month old wrx. got a screw right on the edge of the tyre, cant be fixed so has to be changed. do I get both rears done or just the one? Only done 7500 miles, so rear tyres are pretty intact (well, better than the fronts!).

its also a leased car, so may have to fight for both but at least they will fit the original bridgestone SO50's.

but cant find any in stock anywhere! kwik fit have them on back order, not sure when they're in, so limping around with an electric inflator at the moment :-(, still at least fuel economy is better...

bah

Depends what the 7500miles have done to the Tyres - my original tyres only lasted 14,000miles and I drive like a fairy!!

So, I would assume they are at least 1/2 worn - so, I would renew both

Buzz
I think tyres should always be replaced in pairs.
You should especially with you having done a fairish mileage on them.
All in my opinion of course

I have just had this same problem and the result was change at least the two, and if there is a huge difference in tread depths between the new and old tyres then all 4 should really be done

Suffice to say I settleted with two , keeping the worn but intact tyre from the other side incase the same happens again and I just put that on as a worn replacement!

Matt.

Advice from Subaru and mine. If changing tyres do an axle at a time, with AWD it is very advisable to have the same traction either side.

Yeah I just changed both of mine after a stupid puncture

I'd only done about 4K on them as well, but it was a GD2 Goodyear and I just had the GD3's put on the front to replace. (Kept the other side as a spare just in case it comes in handy).

oh well, def looks like 2 new tyres then!

i rang round today to see if i could source a bridgestone, but no luck. one guy told me that it there is more than 1mm difference in tread across an axle, replace both - and if there is more than 2mm front to back do all 4! not sure if the lease company see it that way (or subaru tbh?)

i would have thought that the rate imprezas use tyre, they would be readily available - but not so! best i can get is monday or tuesday... so its off the road for 3 days with a bloody flat tyre... bah didnt expect that!

cheers

Got my flat yesterday - slow puncture, didn't notice until I put the car in the garage @ 10:30 last night and the wheel wouldn't turn properly (thought I'd been clamped on my own driveway for a second ).

Rung a place up this morning and they had 4 Bridgestones just sitting there - not the nearest place to me, but only 16mile away and he brought the price down to within £14 of the cheapest I'd found as well.

Nice one John from Tyrecare in St.Helens if you ever read this!
