Tescos have (since april 1st) refused to insure under 25's on Evo's, so I would imagine it would be the same for Imprezas. I'm getting a new Evo MR340 on June 1st, and my only decent insurance quote was from admiral (£2424.02...22 years old, no ncb, no previous offences etc...) so it looks like insurance companies are trying to reduce the young drivers in fast cars thing!...won't stop me though

forgot to add that after driving thru Halfords backwards and Max-powering the car, he sold it about 12months later and daddy got him an M3....
now what's that phrase about BMW drivers?

I insured a new VX220 Turbo through Tesco's the week before they changed their policy. I phoned up a week later to ask if I could change my cover (reduce the annual mileage) and was told that I'd have to cancel the current cover (full refund with their 7 day no quibble policy) and take out new cover.
Fine. The operator then laughed and told me that if I did cancel the current cover that they'd no longer issue me with a quote simply due to my age (22) and them not insuring anybody under 25 on high performance vehicles
Given that the next cheapest quote was a good few hundred quid more expensive, the phone went down like a shot...

I was only just 21 when I got my 98 STi Type R.
I paid £2550 to insure it on a Traders policy ( fully comp upto £26k on any car ) as that was the only way to get insured with 2yrs NCB and 3 points.

any of you young inexperienced drivers actually had any extra driving tuition over and above your standard driving test?
I'm not talking about hairing round a track either, more actual advanced driving instruction.
You'd be better off in a cheaper, less powerful car, with a course of fast road driving under your belt, much safer, and in the long run would bring down insurance for all of us
chris.
