LG John 29 April 2004 07:40 PM

There has been younger......much, much younger  I had a 275bhp modded scooby when I was 23 and my insurance was less :p

I'm 21 and have a 98 sti 4, no mods, but tescos are charging me £2200, even though I have a racing licence and an advanced driving licence!! Help!!

Nevetas 29 April 2004 08:21 PM

Got mine when I was 18 and insurance was 3.5k OUCH!

DeerHunter 29 April 2004 08:54 PM

£1799 at 26 with 7yrs ncb on my03 sti ppp, your quotes are ones i can only dream of! you all must live in the sticks

Bats-Wrx 29 April 2004 09:19 PM

iirc there was a very young 22b owner in Aberdeen just trying to remember his name now. Paul watt??? that rings a bell for some reason

Kyl3cook 29 April 2004 09:21 PM

Tescos have (since april 1st) refused to insure under 25's on Evo's, so I would imagine it would be the same for Imprezas. I'm getting a new Evo MR340 on June 1st, and my only decent insurance quote was from admiral (£2424.02...22 years old, no ncb, no previous offences etc...) so it looks like insurance companies are trying to reduce the young drivers in fast cars thing!...won't stop me though :)

16vmarc 29 April 2004 09:25 PM

Are they honering renewals?

Kyl3cook 29 April 2004 09:32 PM

I believe they do honour renewals.

Dan R 29 April 2004 09:37 PM

my mates brother had a p1 when he was 18. it was 3.4k to insure. had it on his birthday. he inherited alot of money off his parents

ScoobyDoo555 29 April 2004 11:00 PM

I insured a new VX220 Turbo through Tesco's the week before they changed their policy. I phoned up a week later to ask if I could change my cover (reduce the annual mileage) and was told that I'd have to cancel the current cover (full refund with their 7 day no quibble policy) and take out new cover.

Fine. The operator then laughed and told me that if I did cancel the current cover that they'd no longer issue me with a quote simply due to my age (22) and them not insuring anybody under 25 on high performance vehicles :o
Given that the next cheapest quote was a good few hundred quid more expensive, the phone went down like a shot... :D

<---17 when i bought myself a brand new 04 STi-8

now im 18 with an over 300whp STi(12.5 @110.3 1/4)

and paying for it myself(was working at a subaru dealership when i bought it)

now im waiting on a US Spec C

Andy H STi 30 April 2004 05:34 PM

I was only just 21 when I got my 98 STi Type R.

I paid £2550 to insure it on a Traders policy ( fully comp upto £26k on any car ) as that was the only way to get insured with 2yrs NCB and 3 points.

Andy

Tasberley 30 April 2004 06:45 PM

i am 20 and have an sti type r ! yay :)

cw42 30 April 2004 07:42 PM

any of you young inexperienced drivers actually had any extra driving tuition over and above your standard driving test?
I'm not talking about hairing round a track either, more actual advanced driving instruction.
You'd be better off in a cheaper, less powerful car, with a course of fast road driving under your belt, much safer, and in the long run would bring down insurance for all of us :)
chris.

Aztec Performance Ltd 30 April 2004 07:46 PM
