Wr1 test in EVO mag
got my mag in the post today with the test between WR1,P1,spec c,Type 25.
WR1 gets a good write up in particular the active diff...but the figures are way off the prodrive ones in fact there almost identical to the sti ppp figures(which are also way off).
they still rate the P1,like the spec c and love the type 25.
WR1 looks very smart in the pics too.
apparently theres a future article still to come on different imprezas.

Hi Mike
Is there any way you can scan the info on the WR1 please? I'm hoping to be able to get one. I checked the EVo web site, but they still have last month's mag listed. I buy Evo, but get mine delivered from the newsagents.

i think everybody expected the figures to NOT be the same as the amazing ones flying around the internet
i mean, IMO for the mods the car has got, it was never gonna do the times posted over the simmiler spec`d jdm cars was it!!

I've always been Sceptical of manufacturers claims and of the way magazines conduct themselves!! Both parties always have their own agenda's........................................bu t to publish a claimed 23% error in a 0-100 time (WR1)..........there's probably something fishy going on with both tests!!
.............if you know what I mean!!
I have a good plan, why don't we let the Prodrive Boys prove their claims.....................let them show us how it's done!!
BTW. I like all the cars tested for different reasons!!

Please don't scan and post - copyright will be an issue with that - sorry folks.
It's a very, very good article, and I can see it upsetting a lot of WR1 would-be owners. The Spec C is fully 4 seconds faster around beford than the WR1, which rather surprised me. The type 25 is only .4 seconds behind the Spec C, losing out on one corner but achieving higher top speeds.
Figure-wise, the in gear acceleration of the Type 25 annihilates the others. As an example...
30-50 in 3rd... 1.8 in Type 25. 2.4 for the WR1.
50-70 type 25 = 1.9 in 3rd, 1.9 in 4th
50-70 WR1 = 2.4. in 3rd, 2.9 in 4th.
Those are *big* differences in real life.
What is astounding is, out of all the cars, they rate Litchfield Imports' type 25 the highest. "It's the best Impreza I've ever driven" say the reviewers.
The closing comment, which relates to the Type 25, will get people's emotions running high, especially those on the WR1 waiting list.
"It's suspension is fantastically well honed, and the development of the 2.5-litre flat-four is inspired. Sure, £34,000 doesn't sound cheap for an Impreza from a company you might not have heard of, but it makes the WR1 look expensive."
Go out, buy the article, and if you've got the money and the inclination, get on the phone to Litchfields
Cheers,
nick.

We can't buy the article, it's not in newsagents yet!
If anyone is prepared to scan & email the article - I'd be very grateful. I'm expecting on Monday to have to firm up on a WR1 order - if I can find an available car. Therefore I'd rather not wait until Evo gets to my newsagent. (I have a regular order for Evo with my newsagent & get it delivered.)

The usual reason for the difference between manufacturer's figures and those achieved by a magazine are:
i. The manufacturer's will power shift the car
ii. A magazine will usually test a car two-up with the added weight of the test equipment

I don't think prospective WR1 buyers will be upset that either the Type 25 or the Spec C are 'faster' in a magazine test; both are extreme machines and are honed for that purpose!!
What does cause concern is the differencial between the statistics published by Subaru/Prodrive and those 'measured' by EVO.
I find it hard (but not impossible) to believe that Subaru/Prodrive would publish data that they then allowed (by providing a press car) to be disproved so easily............................why would they expose themselves to such obvious ridicule??
I think I smell a rat!!......................but I can't see where it's hiding!!

I can assure you Evo don't hold back when testing the cars
If you look at the IM fiqures for the WR1 you see that it is quicker than our Spec C was last year 0-60 & 0-100 but much slower in gear????? http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk/i...rge/mag_23.jpg

.........................but I think it's not the only one!!
........and that doesn't imply all the Rat's are from the same family................if you know what I mean?!
That aside, Thank-you for developing the Type 25, it's awesome!

Guys,
A little off topic but whats the deal with the warranty supplied with the Spec C and Type 25. Am I right in assuming its only 12 month?
If so, why on earth would you want to pay £34k for it. Please give me some good news and say it has 3 years, I fancy a T25.
Pete

heyDC911- Dont forget your offer to take me for a spin
Like wheelie said; is the 3yr warranty extra?
I meant that a 3yr as standard would a huge sweetener, and may tempt those that fear a years warranty (or dont want to pay extra on top of a substantial amount of money)
Would love one. but not yet..

will the WR1 have been run in?
Would the 0-60 time get much quicker with more miles on the clock?
EVO got a 0-60 time of 5.5 out of a WRX and they can only manage a 0-60 of 5.3 in a WR1
