Default Stuttering on acceleration

I took the Scoob for her first motorway trip yesterday, and noticed that the car stuttered terribly when I tried to accelerate. She's definately not pulling the way she should.

A fuel thing? I've only had the car about a week, and have put Super Unleaded in the tank every time I've had to fill up (two full tanks in a week!). Definately not the clutch as I've had clutch slip a few times in other cars and this isn't the case here.

Perhaps an ECU reset might solve things - assuming that the previous owner only used 95 octane unleaded or something?

The previous owner fitted a K&N air filter. I've never been overly fussed by these things anyway (i.e. pulling hot/warm air in from the engine bay), and I'm now wondering if it's related to that!

Is your air system standard?

Suggest MAF air sensor as it's had a K&n on it

Stick to panel filters

Any evidence to back this up? I'm currently looking at induction systems and am undecided which way to go. I bought an STi panel filter in the recent group buy to stick in while I wait....

To be honest I'm not looking for out and out BHP increase, just more of an induction 'roar'. I've read enough to know that the induction can have an adverse affect which is why i bought the STi panel filter while I try to get more info.

MAF sensors are weak on that year. Any buggering about with the air filter could help to cause failure. 4000 rpm hesitation is one of the symptoms. Is the check engine light on?

I've literally just read up on how to check the engine light, so will take a gander tomorrow night when I get in from work.

Unless I decide to bunk off tomorrow.

Thumbs up

Hi

My 96 Turbo had a misfire a few months ago, changed the plugs perfect.

I have been running a K&N 57i for ages and have had no probs at all.

Red.
