After a long long wait Im in the possition to buy a scooby but it looks like hardly anybody is selling. why?
A month a go the market was flooded with scoobies or is it just beacuse Im looking it seems to be dead.

A couple of months ago you didn't have to pay on Scoobynet (not that I disagree with this policy change!) Have a look on SIDC forum!

I guess it all depends on how long you're wanting to wait. I saw some absolutely overpriced and/or thrashed examples when I first started looking, but soon found the model I wanted (at the right price) by looking further afield.

What spec/price range are you looking at?
Cheers,
Ian.

Not looking for anything special.
All i want is a MY99-00 UK turbo (for insurance reasons) in blue and air con with 40000 to 50000 miles on the clock around 9-10k.
I think I should be abole to pick up a MY00 for my money.
I think I might need to start looking out of the Midlands but I dont fancy a long drive just to be disappointed

Its always the same, isn't it?
When you're not looking the world seems full of what you want - THEN - when you start looking there isn't one you want! Why? Simple reason:-
There are STILL loads for sale (like you saw when you were just casually glancing) but NOW you want to buy .... you have a budget, you have high hopes of finding a 1 Owner unmolested one, one which hasn't been thrashed to within an inch of its life, one that has been Subaru Main Dealer maintained, one that has a sensible mileage, one that is as it came out the factory, one that has NO mods whatsoever, and then what happens????? - Theres ONLY ONE LEFT ..... and I'm sorry, mines not for sale just yet!

Mine meets all of PSLEWIS criteria except one - mods, but they are 'sensible ones' (no gold alloys anymore!)
Remember air-con was an extra cost option on the UK classics - it was always after market fitment in any case - you could get your local Scoob dealer to fit it if you really wanted it (£1000 ish). Car without air-con weight less And there is less to go wrong.
You might get lucky and find a car locally but if you're after a particular colour/spec then I think you will need to be prepared to travel.
Mine no good to you? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...4&page=1&pp=20

pslewis - dont you have a green wagon? or am I going crazy?
I think you're right now I have a budget and Im buying Im goina be pickey.
As for the air con. I think I just want it easy for myself and its having to spend an extra £1000 ontop of the car is not a good feeling. I think cars with air con still seem to go for the same price as one without or and I going crazy again?

Because I wanted Red Mica (or gay pink mica as Pete calls it ) to be a bit different, I had to travel to buy. I viewed one in London, one in Derby, and then settled on one in Nottingham.
If you want one that's right, you've just gotta make the trek.

I was only disappointed with the one. The one from London (first i looked at) i woulda had but some1 put a deposit on over the weekend so it was sold when i rang monday.
I wasn't too disheartened, just excited that i knew i would be getting one soon!!! Then i found my banger

Have you tried searching on Auto Trader web site? You might get lucky and find a local car thats blue and with aircon and lowish miles. I think only a small percentage of UK classics have air con - when I bought my first Scoob it was a £1500 option and Subaru later reduced it to £1000.
Cheers,
Ian.

I saw one in the trader spot on but its in Bournmouth but I dont fance the drive. Looks like Im gonna have to drive to find the one I want.
Could end up driving 2-3 time just to buy one car. the first view then hopefully second time to buy.

There's loads for sale mate. I've been talking via email to at least 6 owner's selling on scoobynet. There's loads in the autotrader and well lane turbo centre have a few. I can recommend you view Ian's motor. He sent me some pics and it looks very clean and tidy, unfortunately I had already put a deposit on my new one.
