Took my O3WRX on its first post 1K service major blast. Fine at first and then when the turbo was put under pressure a fast ticking noise was heard above the whine. The performance seemed to drop a bit as well. It happened going up hills in 3rd/4th under heavy accelleration. The turbo whined, built up pressure, car accellerated and then the tick tick tick noise, no jolts, just a fall off in accelleration.
Dealer had it, noticed the problem which they say was a first and apologised. Yesterday they changed the dump valve, performance is better and the ticking is less, but its still there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am i being paranoid or does everyone elses engine tick tick tick just after the turbo has started whining?
Don't want to look a T**t in the dealers if its supposed to happen!!!!!!

Somebody out there must drive a scooby and know the noise their turbo usually makes?

i have a my97 and the turbo doesn't tick, once people get home from work i am sure you will get a good response.

The only clicking i get is from the Solenoid and only at tick over not whilst driving.

I haven't noticed any ticking mate, so the good news is you're prob not mad!

No ticking on my my03 wrx, I would take it back to the dealer again !!

My old Metro Turbo used to to tick. None of my three Imnprezas have, neither did a friend's R5 GT Turbo. I though it was just a metro trait.

Dapster - my 03 just makes a "whoosh" and off we go. Slight turbo whistle at high speed and that's it ....

Where do you live - you're more than welcome to have a go in mine!

Ta very much. miles away from you in the midlands....Went back to the dealers who are still looking into it? And yes i ain't going mad?
