In a couple of months I will be selling the Cosworth for a new Impreza WRX.
So iam starting to look around for the best prices on the market, to my suprise there seems to be a big difference in price between the main dealers and the car supermarkets.
There is one car supermarket selling a brand new Impreza WRX for 16.669, to me this seems rather cheap.
Will this probely be an import or will there be hidden catches to the deal.

It could be a Euro import - nothing wrong with that..

p.s. car supermarkets can supply a £22k mondeo for £15 - now that's a bargain

Let me guess Motorpoint!!!

Malta Import
NO Warranty (They will give you a one year one)

Looked at a STI and no Cat 1 system no Trackstar 1 year warranty and to cap it all off I would have been the second owner.

The saving over UK MRP £3k

Call it £1k to get the security to the same level as a UK car (cat1 and Trackstar)

£1k for 2 years warranty and breakdown cover to UK standard spec?

I would expect at least £500+ on a pre reg car maybe £1k.

Add this up and you have saved £500?

now try and tap a dealer you should get a very good deal this time of year.

O yea and try and get the same price when you come to sell it......NO WAY.

They will tell you it makes no difference!!! if that’s the case why do they ask if your car is an import when giving a PX price?

Wink

alright m8 !

Well the car supermarkets sell both imports & older models that have been sitting in a storage area for a while !

I looked at these before i ordered my new Sti & one particular supermarket was offering them for 21,999 but no tracker or cat one alarm, also only 1 years warranty were as Subaru UK offer a 3yr 60k.

IMOHO i would stick 2 the uk its safer

Cheers

It is Motorpoint.
Iam not bothered about any warranty as ill be doing work to the engine straight away.
As long as the car comes with delivery milage, which should be no more than 10 miles.
Ill probely order in March so I should get it on an 04 Plate.
Iam not bothered if its from Cypres or the Netherlands.
For myself if comes with the above it sounds a great deal.

Andrew.

good luck mate, not my choice but as you say the price is very good.

The Warranty they offer will also be worthless if you do any slight mod to the car.

If you are going this route try shopping around first there are plenty of dealers that will import cars and some may give a better deal. Motorpoint have very high overheads to cover!!!

21999 and you dont mind about warranty? this car is not a patch on a jdm gl model which you could probably pick up for not much more more money, and definately the car to start with if you are going to mod, engine internal are much better, along with many other parts of the spec
