The Flaps....
#1
For all those who requested the pictures of the flaps here they are and a few useful hints for DIY disaster areas like myself. Most of these will probably be obvious to normal beings but if your like me and know not one end of a screwdriver to the other then they may be useful
1. YOU HAVE TO TAKE EACH WHEEL OFF!
2. Make sure you have all the tools you need prior to removing wheel, check your socket sets etc. fit the bolts provided in the kit. I found a small ratchet set made things much easier.
3. My drill JUST fitted into the wheel arch with the wheels on full lock, a slightly bigger drill and I would of been buggered!
4. I found a little bit of blue tack held the C nuts in place a treat on the front flaps, if they drop down and slide down your side skirt its a pain in the ***, you've been warned
5. The plastic screws that hold the small plastic trim on the front, that the instructions tell you take out, simply undo them then get the pliers on them to tug them out, you don't need them again
6. When holding the metal bracket in place get someone else to mark the drill holes for you, it saves having an engine bay like a tea strainer! And no I only have holes where they're needed LOL!
7. The C Nuts slide on with the nut inside the wing and then plastic trim should then fit snuggly over the top.
8. Use the long bolts to a fix the above mentioned C nuts not the screws cos thet ain't long enough
9. When drilling the drivers side rear wheel be sure to mind the rubber pipe that sits just behind.
10. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE SELF TAPPING SCREWS, GENTLE TURN THEM UNTIL THEY FEEL FIRM!
11. Finally the metal mounting brackets should be visible on the side of the flaps without the logo, i.e. next to the tyre! (yes I did get this wrong on the fronts!)
My car has standard ride height and I put the flaps on the lowest setting, which looks nice, and I have had no immediate scrapping sounds.
