Has anyone tried this new BP Ultimate? It is supposed to giove Shell Optimax a run for its money.............

Quoted from the BP Ultimate Site:
[b]"BP Ultimate is generation of both diesel and petrol fuels available within the United Kingdom market. The fuels deliver more performance and improved efficiency with a cleaner engine that produces less valve deposits and fewer harmful emissions."

Put my first tank in last night, only done 50 mile so far, only time will tell. If I can't see any difference over NUL then I will go back. Tried Optimax for a while and didn't think it was worth it, not in my MY02 anyway. Classic and import owners are likely to see the benefit the most I would guess...

Yeah I filled up last night, the 100RON fuel makes a huge difference to my cars performance. Excellent stuff.

On my second tank, so the ECU should have adjusted to it, if it is, in fact, any higher RON than Optimax.

buggered if I can tell any difference though, apart from Ultimate is about 3p a litre dearer around here

I suspect the 100 RON rumour is not quite true- if you think about it, what would be the demand for such a high octane rating.

the positive side though is that there seem to be more BP stations in this area than Shell, so now I have a choice.

Question

Why does everyone call everyone else "Ron" on these threads?

So its not really entitled to be called 'Ultimate' then is it? just when I was about to sell all my millers OB as well.

I'll stick with optimax then.

Thumbs up from me , car seems to run sweet & it's 81p a litre on the A13 @ Stanford.Helps aswell as the closest shell garage is 15 miles away. Didn't get to meet RON but I've heard he's well thought of.

BP Ultimate™ starts where the other petrols finish. It's a very powerful, high octane (98 RON), unleaded fuel that maximizes engine power and performance. BP Ultimate's unique formula also produces less pollution than any other Australian petrol.

Not surprisingly BP Ultimate™ is the only fuel to receive the Australian Greenhouse Office's 'Greenhouse Friendly' certification. Plus, every time a bp plus card customer buys BP Ultimate, BP invests 1-2 cents per litre in a range of independently audited environmental projects which offset cars' greenhouse gas emissions. We do this through our BP Global Choice program.

I used it for first time yesturday at a cost of nearly 84p a litre. Today I filled my partners car up at the garage opposite my house and they are selling it for 78p a litre. Neither of the pumps have been changed to tell you they have changed to Ultimate so why is there such a big price difference. The 2 garages are 4 miles apart. Will use it for a week or so and if there is no difference I will be going back to Optimax.
