At 85.9 PPL the testing period will be short!! (Motorway service station, somewhere in the midlands).

Cool

the 100RON fuel makes a huge difference to my cars performance
Pardon me for adding my 2p worth but this is rubbish, we use 100ron V-Power over here in our scoobs and it has made no noticable difference to performance than our standard 99ron optimax.

Your all deluding yourselves if you think you will all get STi performance just by using this new fuel which apparently is only 97/98ron and not 100. If you want to find out what 100Ron V-Power is like then just go to mainland europe for a day or so.

80.9p at Birchwood Warrington, stuck a tank in the Saab.
Other local BP/Safeway Mini-Mart, only had SUL in, and that was 81.9p.

Problem with bichwood warrington is they have a razor edge speed bump as you enter, as they are on the edge an NSL road.

Ok Thought I would add my comments

I filled up with the 'orrid stuff yesterday, and drove to the Pod and back

On the back roads, my knock link was lighting up like a christmas tree on lift off, something which it has never done before

There is a very good thread on 22b.com about knock, and I have made some comments on the effects my car seems to have with different fuel, and with/without Dawes

I havent Delta Dashed it with the stuff in, and I wont be, as I will definatly NOT be using that fuel again, If I am really stuck, I will just shove some 95 NUL in

Re: VPower fuel- I filled up with some in Aachen and didn't notice any performance benefit over the standard 98RON SUL I get in France.

It's all hype IMHO. As for BP it would be nice if they had't stopped selling SUL last week in the run up to "ultimate" on their M5 service stations. I nearly ran out and was almost forced to use 95Ron due to those muppets.

Your ECU would not reset / learn that quickly to notice any difference. The test would be to change your plugs and see how long they last. In saying that new plugs would give you a better gain in performance.

The difference is the process not the RON. The new stuff achives the Octane valuse by refining whereas the old stuff was achieved by loading it with Bezene (worst carciogenic known to mankind).

It's a cleaner version of 97UL, nothing more.

Anyone who thinks it will magically make their car go noticibly faster deserves to be anally rogered by a chieftan tank. Smoother, maybe.

Its like when people post "ooh, my new panel filter makes it go like a rocket!" If you can notice 3bhp at the flyheel, good luck to you!

Going from 95 to 98 RON will, however, make your engine a bit happier if you drive an import.

95 RON = bloody fast
97 RON = bloody fast
Optimax = bloody fast.
BP juice = well I haven't tried it but I can see a pattern emerging !!

Picked up some info while at Santa Pod yesterday from someone (I can't disclose) whos been doing some Rolling road testing with BP Ultimate.

They said, that put in a Mitsi Evo there is an instant benefit, but in the scooby they had to remap to get the benefit (in a car with a GEMS ECU - i.e. non learning).

Before the remap the Scooby was about 15BHP down with Ultimate running on an Optimax map, but remaped they got more BHP with Ultimate. But remember this is a Scooby with a GEMS so can't re-learn, it has to be remapped. They were not sure what the effect would be with a standard ECU as to whether it would learn up and run more ugnition advance which is what they found could be done with the Ultimate over the Optimax, which was where the extra BHP came from.

Only problem is round here Ultimate is 83.9p/litre !!!!!, which is 1-2p/litre more than optimax, so I don't think I'll be trying it in a hurry.

Cool

No no GM, Jason is not very clever, so he can't ever possibly have meant it as a stir. Honestly

BP Ultimate is our own version of "War of the Worlds" / Orson Welles

Da Doo Ron Ron, Da Doo Ron Ron.

PS: I got it from a good source (John Coffey) that it is 100 RON
