i think MAF sensors can suffer on later models due to induction kits and also that wastegate chatter is not neccassarily good for turbo wear.

someone with more knowledge please clarify.

Get the induction kit changed for original airbox and an ITG (or similar) panel filter. I have just changed back to the old air box as it draws cold air through the ducting from the front bumpur skin, reason being that if you are sitting in traffic, drawing warm/hot air through the induction kit .... It doesn't help Det.

For a used air box, try one of the numerous breakers found every week in the Exchange and Mart. For the panel filters, try either Extreme scoobies (Knowlesey 01245 363623) or Scoobysport (Pete 01268 590085) , I'm sure either of these guys can sort one out for you

Nate.

My 93 WRX has run with an HKS filter for quite some time and is displaying no side effects whatsoever.

Induction kits are generally regarded as bad news on later models due to using a different design of MAF which can become contaminated by the oil used on the filter elements.

They potentially can draw in hot air when in slow moving traffic, but at speed, assuming you don't have the bonnet vent blanked off, there is plenty of cool air getting under the bonnet, just be aware that thrashing the nads of your car after sitting running for a while is not good (this applies whether or not you have an induction kit as the standard top mount intercooler suffers with heat soak)

if the bonnet vent blanks are removed..
doesnt the air get sucked through the radiator and out through the bonnet vent at speed

thereby sucking all the warmair up past the airfilter?
