Unhappy

Not had a moan about this for a while

70.9 miles from full to dead on half tank in my MY99 with only mods being B/B, D/Pipe, panel filter & Dawes @ 17psi.....

Car perfectly healthy with O2 sensors, MAF etc all fine

A staggeringly economical 10.7mpg (my calculations anyway)

I mean 70.9 miles on a half tank....!!!!!

Scottish twisties.... don't ya just love em!!!

Anybody had worse ? Presumably big BHP's and track days ?

Have a nice weekend all

I think Gossy used to get about 80 miles to a tank on track You are really lucky living up there with those roads and having a scoob to use on them.

at trax i did two 20 min sessions on the GP circuit silverstone.

went on track with just under 3/4 a tank. when i came off after the 2nd session I had well under 1/4 tank left.

was doing average of approx 3 min laps, so did 6-7 laps per session @ 3 mile each

so i got roughly 40 miles from 1/2 a tank or about 8mpg

other than that i get between 150 & 280 miles per tank dependant on the grin factor

Say turbo-bob, do you think that hole we drilled in Sipie's fuel line has anything to do with it?

Had my stock scoob down to 9mpg the worst I've seen in the RX-7 is 6.2mpg wouldn't be so bad if it didn't insist on averaging <8mpg any time it went near a track 2,000 miles across Europe and I still averaged < 12 to the gallon, erm...

You will always get a lot less mileage out of the bottom 'half' of the tank than the top, if you judge by the fuel gauge. Typically about 130 miles down to half and then 70 miles for the balance. You need to fill the tank to the same level each time (full is best) to do a scientific calculation of fuel consumption.

Not saying that 10mpg isn't achievable though

I do around 80miles on trackdays to a full tank + octane booster. Depending on the track and weather conditions I've seen less

WHen I went on track at Silverstone, I had just over a 1/4 of a tank left

Did my session, then drove up the motorway, and got to the services before the petrol light came on

No surge on track either, but then I have only ever had surge once, and that was when the light was on
