Exclamation

I'm filling in my SVA application for and am stuck on something.

It's asking me to write in the "maximum road speed" and "Maximum Power Engine Speed" (speed, in RPM at which the engine produces maximum power")

It's a '97 type r,what do i put for that?

Also, it's asking for "Design Weights" for axle 1 inkg, axle 2, axle 3, gross (in kg) and train, also in kg?????????????

any help much appeciated,
Matt

If still restricted then 112 mph, if u have fitted a kph-mph converter, most likely 144 mph. (obviously could be conservative)

Note the tyres u have fitted will have to be rated high enough to cope with your top quoted speed.

Say about 6000 revs for the second Q

If you read the form I dont think you have to put design weights in, thats IIRC is only for certain types of vehicle.

i'm gonna have the pleasure of filling in an "esva" form in about a month .

did u guys do the necessary conversions to your cars for the sva test?

if u dont mind i'd like to start up some sort of correspondence with someone who's doing the same/done it before to get advice etc...obviously i'd help in return if i can, i've imported vefore but it was a pre 94 and thus no sva.

Hey, Scooby TypeR, what dash / mph display do you currently have?? mine reads 280 KM/H.. it seems mad to just put an MPH sticker over the KM/H as i'll never get to 280mph LMAO!!

Obviously need a converter for the g/box but presumably a new dial too? any ideas?

Cheers.

Do NOT put an MPH sticker over the km/h.
It HAS to be backlit, and if you do that it wont pass as you cant see it illuminated.
Paint out the K, to leave M/H. That tip was given to me by the guy who tested my car.

bull****.
You can stick them over as long as you cant see the one underneath when illuminated.
For the 97 type r`s you will also need a model report which will cost around £350 to £500 on top of the sva.
All mounts Up!

I have a sticker with mph over my kmh no probs with mine.
Looks good to passengers when you show them your 280 mph speedo...

for the form you can put 112 mph as max road speed and then the revs it would be doing in 5th at that speed ie about 4800rpm

if you go disabled you need a steering wheel ****-get one from a forklift specialist etc
£150 for disabled test and no designation numbers required
this test will be being stopped some time in the future

for speedo you have a choice
gear'd box for cable type drives
speedo card that just goes up to the equivelent in mph that you have on your speedo

if its electronic drive you can have it converted by
PROTECHNICAL LTD
23 Clevedon Road, Nailsea, Bristol. BS48 1EW.

Tel : 01275 859955 Fax : 01275 859944
other than that its just foglight properly fitted
no sharp edges on dash
turbo timers removed
pod mounted boost guages removed-they are classed as contactables???

Hixton , its not bull****, my sva failed first time. and that was one reason.
If u think different, then you tell the VOSA authorities that their testers are incorrect.

Carla_WRX seems very knowledgable on ths subject..

It's suggested I look at the disabled rules...

Does it literally mean only need the **** on the steering wheel -to comply with this specific test? I understand the foglamp and the speedo converter -had hoped to lack out the 'K' I must admit.

Many thanks for the advice.

So am i right in thinking that the disabled route will let you get away with not doing the Enhanced sva and therefore no model reports needed, just a plain old sva?

http://www.topgear.com/content/features/stories/owning_a_car/01/modules/05_MOT/06/

As described about halfway down the above link?
