At what mileage (MY03 WRX) is it best to change to synthetic oil, or can it be used from 1000mile oil change ?

Don`t be in a hurry to go onto fully synthetic. Maybe 5000 miles plus. Because of the reduced friction rings to bore you run the risk of glazing. Which fully synthetic do you plan to run?

Mileage now 3000, car 6 months old having PPP fitted on Monday.

Is it worth an intermediate oil change now using semi ?

Was thinking of Mobil 15/50 or silkolene 10/50 (or is 10/40 - can't remember).

If an oil change is not due per the service schedule give it a bit longer. Use a genuine Subaru oil filter. I have used the Silkolene, which is easy to get. I used the type R from RCMS but during this summer have been using Motul 15/50 300 V but I may use a lighter oil for the winter.
