When I (literally) rolled into the optimax I had done exactly 20 miles since the light came on and managed to put in 54.79 litres

I'm sure I could have squeezed it to 55 if I tried!!!

What year's your car? My MY00 has, I believe, a 60 litre tank. Last night I filled up, with the warning light on, and got 52 litres in.

Anyway, I feel I should repremand you Edcase.....

What were you doing letting it get so low? Especially when you believed it to be a 55 litre tank?

Well I was coming back from london, and the last optimax before you hit the A4 / M4 was closed for refuelling, and there were no others on the way back to Bristol.

I pulled in at the Esso about 25 miles before Bristol, but the light hadnt come on so I decided to risk it. No sooner had I left than the light came on

Where do you get these magic petrol tanks from??

All petrol tanks have sludge in them.... Never heard of or seen one that hasn't...

I have a MY01 and would like to know if it has a fuel warning light.I have had it really low but never a light comes on so constant paranoia when it gets low!!! The jag would always let you know which was quite often bit like the scoob really as there is hardly any difference in mpg between the two!

A Scoob's first fuel filter change is at the 30,000 mile service so thats plenty of time for things to go pear shaped before a fresh new filter goes on.

You're lucky I got back from my holiday yesterday or that one could have gone unoticed

20 miles on the warning light is nothing I've done 35 miles on it before I was pretty nervous during those last few miles to the garage as in order to achieve those 35 miles I knew I needed to get about 35-40mpg !!!
