Those lucky people who happen to have their P1's, pray tell, are they all they are cracked up to be.

Personally I think the look the Pooch's Pouch. But do they go, stop and handle as well as they look?

And are they better than a sorted STI?

I think the people who slate the P1 as being a slightly modified STI may have missed the point.

It pains me to say but at the moment the EVO 6 is the ultimate point to point rally derived car. BUT as soon as you walk away from the track/road test you face real life.

In real life the EVO 6 is pants. Rubbish fuel consumption, filling jarring ride and stupid broken airfix looks. Subaru realised this was the Evo weak spot so they designed a car that would be close to the EVO on the track BUT would be far more usuable every day. For one minute I don't think they thought they could beat the Evo on level terms without substancial re-design.

The overall package of the P1 is better than a standard STI and that is what Subaru were really aiming for. Now whether it's 6K better is a different matter. IMHO the P1 should have been 27K(same as prodrive RB5)
then they'd have killed the import STI stone dead.

I'm not trying to be insulting here, but I think anyone spending £31k on a P1 is nuts!

I would buy a UK spec. import at circa. £16k, and spend £1500 or so doing a Power Engineering Stage 1 upgrade, along with the exhaust and filter. Circa 280 bhp for £17.5k sounds a lot better value to me than a P1.

I also don't like the P1's colour or wheels!

By the way I'm probably just pissed off cos I paid £21k for my UK car 18 months ago, oh dear!

Later.

But tripe is lovely when it is cooked properly.

But the question is, is it better than meatloaf or a nice bit of fillet. I think that fillet is good, but not in this country, even if you ask for rare it is always overcooked.

Mind you in France if you ask for it bleu then it comes still twitching.....

....nee-naw, nee-naw, nee-naw, screeeeech!

Wallop, struggle, struggle.

It's OK folks we have Rannoch under control now - he just couldn't face another prolonged debate about how much better even a vaguely sorted STi is better than a P1 and better value too....

Red face

Well here's my thought, maybe not. Suggest a search on P1 topics is done. Loads to trawl through.

One thing is clear whenever Rannoch but his side of the argument I'll discard it as he's lost it

I always knew his arguments were irational.

Jonathan

P11 WRX early next week.

Can...

...open...

...worms...

...everywhere!

Jonathan - I saw one today, looks good, but I was in the Smirk and so couldn't play.

I hope you can cope with running it in - enjoy!

See, I started talking sense and they took the straightjacket off.
