Glass's Guide recommends between £13450 and £14000 for a WRX 2002 in excellent condition, for a Trade In valuation. So I guess the dealer is using that, and discounting the extras you've got.

Not sure what Glass's Guide youre looking at Duck the one in my hand says...
(02) plate £13225 @ 16,000 miles + £225 for 10,000 miles
(52) plate £13850 @ 10,000 miles
So, if youre car is on a 02 plate, he's offered you BOOK money. Ask him if you DIDNT p/x what discount would you get. This discount SHOULD be added to the p/x offer.

I just got £13.5K for my MY01 with WR Spolier, WR Headlights, WR Back Box, Defis, Pagid GrpN+ brake upgrade and new Goodyear F1s. It had done 18K miles and in perfect condition. If you read post's on here you would be led to believe that PPP is worth up to an extra £1K on trade in value, seems not.

Yes when you buy PPP one of the dealers *selling points* is that it has a trade in value of an extra £1k on your car.

3 months ago got 13K for my MY00 no mods, 36K miles. It was against a new WRX PPP though.
Was it another Subaru you were looking to buy?
I considered buying a new Golf, P/Xing the same car and the VW dealer offered me 9K for it, 4K difference, robbing B*stards. The dealer sold my old car for 13.5K 2 weeks after.
I'd be looking for 15.5K at least, against another Scoob, less if you're moving to another manufacturer.

Boro - makes sense. I doubt the publishers of the Glass's guide in paper form would be happy if there was an up-to-date version available on the net for free!
I expect the version on Carsource is out of date by a month or two.
Still, better than using Parkers which seems to be way off the mark most of the time.
And if I ever need an accurate estimation (if that's not a contradiction in terms?) I just ask my brother, who is a Used Car Sales Manager.

You will be VERY lucky to EVER get book money on a car (unless it was hyped up) like when the 360 Ferarri came out.
Let alone a car that had a 2 year chelf life as it was such a failure (hence the facelift)
Personally if thats the lower end of the book, even with the options you have I would either bite his arm of (or ditch it depending on your perspective)as I sure as hell wouldnt pay that much for one!
Its funny being on here sometimes, when someone tries to sell something i.e. if you tried to sell it for that on here everyone no doubt would tell you how overpriced it was etc but when a dealer offers you a realistic PX price its all sympathy etc.
Remember every now & then the dealers themselves wouldnt mind making a few pennies on a car, one that is now a discontinued model (with tarty bits which actually makes it harder to sell believe it or not - they would much rather have standard cars) of which they will have to service it, valet it, have a house charge on it, top up the warranty, include a certain small haggling margin/over allowance margin for when someone else who comes in wanting £12k for a car thats not even worth £10k & VAT on anything they do actually make.
That car I couldnt see it being up for more than £15000, £15495, with approx £1000 prep work & VAT the dealer makes ooooh all of £1000 of which they have to pay the salesman, the sales manager, all overheads etc.
Suddenly that PX price isnt so bad
