Question

I'm sure my car has not been calibrated correctly. There is no way I'm dooing the speeds that come up on the spedo, I'ts not out by a lot, but I'm sure it's out, is this common?
Also, when an import comes in, is it only the miles and the speedo that are converted and the trip meter left as kilometers? The reason I ask this is because I just went to BK and back and the trip meter said I had done 6.5 miles, there is no way it is that far in miles to BK and back.
Can the car be checked to see if it needs re-calibrating? Can the car be adjusted.
Thanks in advance, I have to say, this forum really is the dog's danglies! You people know way too much about Scooby's!

Cheers Breath Monster, I was hoping for a better response, I thought someone out there would have experienced something along the same lines.

Do you know any friendly local policemen? If you do, get one to tell you where the nearest measured mile is, so you can check for yourself!

Calibration means determining the amount of error you hav, not adjusting to read correct. That is called adjustment, then recalibrate to determine new amount of error

If you have asked somebody to calibrate they may adjust nothing, merely tell you the reading is out.

Be careful a lot of people fall foul of this meaning

My MY94 STI has got an extra gearbox on the speedo drive and the speedo face was changed to read miles, The odometer also indicates in miles, purely because of the gearbox on the drive.

I have got an SR6 Neo now and the GPS speed which should be pretty accurate on a steady reading shows that my speedo reads about 10% fast. At least it is the safe way from the point of speed cameras etc.

This company re-calibrated my speedo and odometer on my Imported MY95 WRX and it seems to be spot on, both speed and miles.

Cool

Or befriend a local type, or get one yerself, with a road angel or similar that displays your speed (& simply plugs into ciggy lighter) c/o satelites etc & is very accurate when travelling at steady speeds How far out are we talking then as a guess as upto 10% over reading is normal & legal anything else er aint

Thanks for the offer bro, I sent the car to Roger Clark's on the back of an AA truck by itself.
Even if the warranty company does cough up, it will take 3-4 weeks before I get it back.
At least the car is in the best possible hands.
