I have a 52 sti 7 and am looking at getting the PPP - what does having this fitted do to MPG - silly question i know. Also whats the best price anyone has got from a dealer to do this. SO i know what to haggle for..

I agree the effect on MPG is minimal - it is much improved if the other half drives it slowly - even mananged close to 27 mpg on a motorway trip last weekend. However that's 'cause I have sprained my ankle and can't drive until next week at the earliest! Normally get low 20's which was similar to pre PPP.

Jimmy,
Car gets better MPG since PPP was fitted especially on long runs. Definately think its worth the money. Transforms the drivability of the car.

Go for it.

Yep, agree with this. 22-ish before and after, but very dependent on the vigour with which I drive it!! And a Tad under £2K INC VAT and Fitting)is the list price - you'll be lucky to get a discount, but who knows???

Jimmy,

I bought my 02 Sti 7 from my local dealer and negotiated it for half price at the same time. I drove the car for 3 weeks while waiting for the PPP to arrive. When it did, must honestly say that i noticed no difference to the fuel economy really. I still get around 250 miles to a tank full.

Question

Considering the same move - a couple of other questions:
1) Does it increase the cabin noise? On my last Scoob I modded it to the point where I needed ear defenders, so I don't fancy loosing the ability to hold a conversation without shouting

2) How do people find the insurance impact?

3) I've heard a few stories about the fuel pump needing to be upgraded - any problems there?

Cheers, Nick

Nick,

In response to your questions:

1) Yes it does increase cabin noise. Ive had decat aswell, which makes it louder, but standard PPP is a nice noise, no need for ear plugs.

2)Insurance impact.............errrrr dont tell em

3) My car has run like a bag of ****e ever since PPP fitted, but many posts here have pointed to decat causing problems. I would suggest that Pro Drive know what they are doing so there will be no need for a uprated fuel pump as long as the rest of the car is standard.

Hope this helps

Nick,
In answer to the above,

1) Does make cabin noise louder though this is not so noticable on m/ways or when cruising.
2)Insurance. Not telling them is not only dishonest but pretty stupid as well. Your car will I take it be your pride and joy. Dont risk losing it by saving a few quid on the insurance.
3) A new upgraded fuel pump will be fitted along with your pPP aspart of the package.

Chip.

Defo need the uprated fuel pump, the std pump aint man enough.
I dont have PPP on my (Euro import) STI7, I have a full Magnex decat and Ecutek remap plus Knocking monitor. I fitted the uprated fuel pump after reading about several unfortunate engine failures.

314bhp ish at Powerstation :-)
