My Scooby MY97 has just had its 90k service (actual mileage is 75k though) and it had the cam belt changed. Prior to the service, it had the front pads changed because the caliper had stuck on the one side and was wearing the pad unevenly.

Since the pads were changed, after driving, whenever I put the car into reverse and park (using brakes) there's a clunking noise from the front, when steering.

I have read on here that this could be the pads being loose. I explicitly requested that the dealer looked at the pads during the service, and was told it was part of the service anyway.

So now, after the service, it still makes the noise, and is louder. Is this normal? (I've had the car over a year and it's never made the noise before the pads were changed.)

Also, when the car gets hot (especially in traffic in the current sunny conditions) I can smell oil coming through the vents.

On the first service they managed to leave the gearbox oil dipper out slightly and it sprayed the engine with oil... but this smells different.

Any ideas? Should I be concerned?

Cheers,

Duck.

Have you looked for leaks from the rocker covers, it drips down onto the headers, when the gaskets have gone. Other than that did they put the oil filler cap back. Joke

My first service I had from them - the Service Manager informed me that the gearbox oil was low, and showed me the second dip stick, recommending me to check it. Unfortunately, he failed to put the stick back in fully, and on my spirited drive home through the lanes, the black stuff burst out, and coated a good portion of my engine.

The response from my complaints afterwards, was "that it'd burn off", which in fairness, it did.

There's another spillage in the same area, so I cleaned that off this morning as best I could, so am now monitoring the situation.

BTW - where are these rocker covers? So I can watch these too...

Cheers,

Duck. :<>
