Cool

Fancy taking a couple of days out this weekend, thought about going to the Derby Dales.
Could anybody recommend any decent hotels in this area, also any good, entertaining routes around the Matlock and Ashbourne area.
Regards
Paul

The dales eh ?

There are some good roads near ashbourne.

The road between (A515) Ashbourne and Buxton is good fun.

Check out

Once you get to Buxton, get on the road to Whaley Bridge. It's called long hill and is something like the B4095.

You will have fun!

Paul

My only thought is as its the Easter Bank Holiday, every man, woman, child & caravan will be hitting the National Parks Might make for some traffic jams & the opposite of what you're looking for

Saying that, I'm going up on Sunday Look out for you.

Cool

I,m off this week so i'm going up there tommorow.

Try to keep off the A roads, especially on the Bank Holiday Weekend, they will be crawling, literally, with Sunday drivers.
Ashbourne - Buxton is a fave with Plod! There are speed cameras and 50 limits on Ashbourne - Leek and a few others. The moors up around Baslow are great, as long as you are carefull and don't get carried away with the long straights.
Try Beeley Village - Beeley Moor - and back down to Rowsley (Great view & 180 degree hairpins)
Anyway, have fun & watch out for sheep!

Ian, is it you I keep seeing on the Uttoxeter-Ashbourne road? (Blue 5 door?)

Chris

BEWARE THE ASHBOURNE TO BUXTON ROAD. GOT CLOCKED THERE 2 WEEKS AGO DOING 86MPH BY SOME COPPER WITH A MACHINE IN HIS CAR WHICH MEASURES HOW LONG IT TOOK TO PASS 2 MARKED POINTS ON THE ROAD. WAITING FOR SUMMONS NOW. I'LL DIG OUT THE MAP AND POST A MORE ACCURATE POSITION.(IT IS LEGAL ISN'T IT)

CharlieWhiskey,

no its not me....I have blue 4 door...used to have green 5 door...changed over a Xmas.

Besides.....if it was me....I would wave

Oh dear...

I'll take back all of my road recommendations...it seems like my plod is cashing in on the spring/summer with the mobile guns/gastos....afterall...the dales are a built-up area are they not
