Ordering my de-cat center in a min - shall i get a magnex without resonator or the scoobysport straight-thru. The SS is 2x the price, but is it worth it.

I am going for best noise/build quality, not best power gains!!

Cool

Andy
I have a scoobysport back-box and centre section.
I only got my centre section about a month ago.
It just takes the sound of the back box and makes it better,
especialy above 3000rpm
I cant judge on the magnex as i have never had one.

Go SS-
You wont be disapointed

At the end of the day, the non-resonator centre sections are just a piece of tube. All that seperates them is the bore of the tube. Magnex is 2.5 inches IIRC, don't know about S sport.

I got the straight thru' magnex fitted on sturday, makes a much deeper rumble now and seems to accelerate a bit quicker.

I recommend.

can't comment on scoobysport.

LOL I didnt get chance to buy it in the end as it was suddenly 5pm and time to go home!! LOL!

I painted my wedges last week, and i shall be getting the lenses soon

So basically, if they are both straight-thru is it all a much of muchness?? i.e. go for the cheaper one!!

I went for the scooby sport one as it has the flexible sprung joint at the front as per the original pipe. It's there to stop the engine movement breaking the exhaust.I don't know whether the Magnex one has this? But worth the extra money if it lasts longer.

With regard to the 'wedges', I stripped the paint off mine and left them bare (black) plastic. I figured that stone chips would not be so noticeable. They look great and you never get close enough to see that they aren't painted.

About the exhaust, all I've heard is that the flexible joint that the SS pipe has is there for a reason. Dunno about the performance as I only fitted the DP and BB but they were both from SS and superb.

The Magnex, as with most Stainless pipes has a lifetime guarantee so you will have no problems if breakage did happen. I am how ever yet to hear of anybody having any sort of issue with any centre section made by anyone which is why i chose cheap
Ok about the wedges!
If SiPie () isn't watching, have a look at mine
Silver is the way to go.

i'm not having the resonator, i want it as loud as possible without spending a packet!!

My car's Red Mica, see earlier pic, therefore i dont think the silver would go tremendously well... Dunno maybe.. I'll stick with body-coloured for the mo

Sid,

Ive had a fully decatted car,and the cabin boom really p1ssed me off. With the resonator,i can hear the engine and exhaust note and my music,a winner!

its personal prefernce i suppose, but i really like hearing the engine, last time, evrything wasd drowned out by boom and the bb

I'm keeping the standard downpipe as a comprimise, and to retain warranty.

But i dont reckon there's much chance of an exhaust drowning out my stereo

If you fit the Magnex pipe with the resonator...does it make it a lot more quiet on the outside..or just take away the boom inside the car..

Am asking cos i want to replace the centre on mine, currently have a Magnex rear box, but with having the wagon, it's already boomy !

Thumbs up

I went for a STi6 centre section for mine as I wanted a resonator cos I've got a wagon- no cat in the centre section on them. Got one for £50 from SS when I was having my DP fitted. Cheap alternative!

I've got SS back box and Magnex centre and it sounds luuuurvly.
Magnex section is very good quality, life time guarantee and flex joint the same as OE.

As someone said before it is just a straight through tube, why pay twice the price???????????

Andy - when you had the backbox off me, it was coupled to a Scoobysport C Section - worked for me!!

For what it's worth!
