22B's Japanese vs UK - huge price difference, 2nd hand why?

Just having a look through autotrader and saw 22B's starting from 17k and immediate thought was it must be an absolute dog. However the other Japanese ones arn't that much more expensive and are roughly the same as P1's However there is one UK 22B on there and its 30k.
Whats the differences between the Japanese model and UK model?
Is the price of the UK model hugely inflated purely because only 16 were officially sold in the UK by Prodrive? Does it really make the UK ones worth nearly twice as much as the Japanese ones?
Are P1's a better buy than a Japanese import 22B?
Just curious as had been looking at getting a P1 and couldn't believe you could pick up a 22B for the same or slightly higher price
I take it though a 22B is going to be a lot more expensibe to run and look after than a P1?
And yes the 22B is making me drool massively at the thought of one being the same price as a P1
Will only be too happy for everyone to say don't go for the Japanese ones, so I don't do anything silly, like think about buying one

Its as slowboy says, the uk ones are remapped for uk fuel (97 ron) and have longer gearing and better suspension (for our bumpy uk roads )
These being "official" cars for the uk and the fact they are quite scarce will keep their value higher
Some of the downsides are the fact that parts are extremely expensive, just to show you the difference, a P1 front wing will cost around 100 quid, unpainted, the equivelant 22B's front unpainted wing (original item) is 2.5k
I personally think that the 22B is an awesome car (much more exclusive than a P1 or the likes ), but no matter if its a Type UK or a JDM version these are definately a second car rather than a daily user.

I think it is down to exclusivity of the UK spec car.
Only 16 offical cars made available and the rumours are that only 10 of these are left in the country and a couple belong to McRae an Grist.

jabbroni I think its a valid question thanks. As someone said they don't see it as an every day car compared to a P1. You see yours as an everyday car. I think thats confirms that there are differing opinions and so no not everyone on this bbs has the same view as you!

Jab old bean thats understandable then, I wouldnt be too chuffed either seeing 2nd hand prices falling so much if I had a 22B either. Was just making sure you werent having a pop at what I thought you were referring to as a blindingly obvious question
At least we both agree on something and thats they are bloody fantastic looking cars

There are several major differences between the car market in Japan, and ours. The Japs have an aversion to buying someone else's cast-off, and so the used car market is less evident than here, also the prices in the second-hand sector are far lower. Bear in mind that they're paying less for the new stuff, and you can imagine that there are some astounding bargains to be found.
I came across some very desirable cars less than half the UK equivalent. It is a temptation to take a holiday in Japan and ship a vehicle back here, cutting out the middle men, who are doing nicely on very fat mark-ups. Think what the 22B would have cost in Japan! Another strange Japanese attitude is their contempt for servicing, and so a check on the car's history is vital. Bear that in mind if you take a serious look at anything from an importer and never accept any excuses why the record is unavailable.

I've just had to make that choice. I own a garage business, so the act of car repair isn't a problem, but spares prices are, just the same as anybody else. I looked longingly at the 22B knowing it's the ultimate Impreza, but I've gone for a P1, on the basis that it's a limited edition, but a doddle to look after. It's a bit like that Supermodel you lust after, she's sexy as hell, but high maintenance, and could cost you more than you bargained for !
