Now I'm mad, I took my car for a service at Fenny Compton Subaru garage 1 month ago and pointed out some vertical scratches on my drivers window. They said they'd put it to Subaru UK and get it sorted out on warranty.
A week after that I called and they said they hadn't had any reply back from Subaru UK yet and were waiting for one before going ahead. 1 month later and no response from Fenny Compton garage I call them and they say Subaru don't cover glass on warranty!
I told them I've heard of many people getting there glass replaced and I've got Subaru's telephone number to take it further.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I just want to shout at somebody!

If I find out Fenny Compton didn't even bother putting in this request they're going to get a dirty letter. I can't believe they've never even been bothered to contact me about this at any point.
I certainly won't be using them for any future business if this is the case.

Mickle, it seems fairly obvious that people are getting this done under warranty, therefore i'd tell them it is possibly, not ask Fánny Compton garage whether or not it can be done.
If they refuse go elsewhere and never return.
More companies would then sit up and wonder why they have no businesss, assuming they didn't get to "know their stuff" earlier.

As I have said before on here - I recently got all four window glasses replaced on warranty becasue of this very problem. It is a known fault - Subaru Japan have sent a bulletin to all dealers according to the dealer I used. When this was faxed to the (extended) warranty company they agreed to cover it straight away. They also fit new bushes in the window mechanism to make sure it doesn't happen again. I was also told Subaru don't cover window glass - however, they do if it is damaged as a consequence of poor design in the first place!

Well the warranty department are very helpful, my windows are covered and he said the garage should also look at my gearbox regarding a First/Reverse gear selection and clutch judder to assess any problem there.
All three of these issues have been brushed off by Fenny Compton.
I've now got the customer relations phone number and I reckon I'll be going to another Subaru Garage from now on, not before a last ditch attempt for Fenny Compton to sort this out once and for all.
Just got to get my chassis number now and IM will check to see if the dealer did actually place the claim...

Oh here we go, dealer is now saying it's because I've got a modified exhaust (backbox and midsection) and he's going to phone IM and tell them that, see if they say they'll accept the warranty work then.

It's a well known fact that modifying your exhaust causes your windows a greater chance of being scratched. I thought everybody knew that
The dealer I used in many happy years of modified Scoob ownership NEVER had a problem like the one you appear to have with yours.
Tell Fanny Fish Face to f**k off and take your business elsewhere.

LMAO - so they're going to try to claim exhaust vibration is the cause of your particular problem, and not the design fault experienced by many other owners? Unbelievable. Good luck getting it sorted.

Most dealers are ****e, if they don't need to put in the effort to gain work as most main dealers don't, then they can hardly be bothered.
Make them sweat a little for there work like the independants and things would change obvernight.

Phoned warranty people again and told them that the dealer had basically threatened me about telling them about the exhaust and to see where the claim stands then. Even Subaru (UK) say there's absolutely no issue at all with the mod I've done. Maybe if I had engine failure but certainly not clutch and window problems. The chap at IM said he'd phone the dealer but I said not to bother, I'll be going else where.
Customer Relations will be getting a phonecall monday though.
Fenny Compton are not going to get any future work or sales from me, why are the dealers such w*nkers? Subaru UK want to help me and sort things out, them dealers just get in the way and f*ck everything up.

Has anyone had these changed after the warranty has expired, my uk99 has this starting, and I think I'd like to get it sorted, if I can't get it done, any idea of the cost to replace both front windows, and the little pads that the windows run on.

When I enquired as to the cost (although I knew it would be on warranty) I was told the bushes are £12 each, and the front window glasses are £180 + VAT each. One dealer quoted me two hours per door labour, and one quoted me 1 hour per door.
Luck of the drawer I thnk.
