Havent touted this club for a while now - we have lots of new scoobynetters - they might well wish to join and help spread the word!!
For those who don't know, SISI stands for:-
S ubaru
I mpreza
S tandards
I nstitute
The members of this VERY sensible club do NOT modify their vehicles, preferring to keep them as Subaru intended.
They wish to keep the Impreza as reliable as possible.
They do NOT drive like RoyBacers and have an eye to economic running.
They buy ONLY UK cars as they want them to be worth SOMETHING come resale time.
They 'tend' to drive wagons as they handle better are faster in standard trim and much more sensible all round.
What are the biggest benefits I hear you say, well, lets re-cap shall we??
1. Better resale value, this could put many £1,000's in your pocket!!
2. Brake pads last beyond 40,000miles .... my originals sit at 38500miles at the moment ... more money in your pocket!
3. Tyres last for 25,000miles - changed every 2 years roughly ... saving £100's! (even though the BEST tyres are bought!)
4. The warranty stays FULLY intact and IM are sympathetic as they haven't seen the vehicle being thrashed to within an inch of its life on some track or another (they DO watch you know!!)
5. The engine and drivetrain will take the owner well into the 150,000mile arena without smoking like a smokie thing!!
6. You get to sell the car quickly - who wants a Jap Import, Modified, Raced Impreza with a Service History written in Japanese!!?? .... some of the imported service histories have been converted and found to relate to a Moped, Tractor or some such vehicle!!
7. You pay £300 a year for your insurance!!
I would say that the benefits far outway any possible disadvantage - have we any new members wishing to join? I will put you on the waiting list for this EXCLUSIVE Club!!
Oh, yes, we frown upon Gold Wheels ........ it shows a certain lack of taste and class!!
Join NOW!!
Names below please ......... in good SISI club fashion - its FREE!!

Steve, you shouldn't have, you REALLY shouldn't have!!
Can I own an Impreza WITHOUT thrashing the thing??
The Handbook does NOT state, 'Thank you for buying a fast capable car, now - please thrash the bollocks off it .... if you don't then you shouldn't have bought it!'
Unless, of course, I have some pages missing??!!

So how many of the above MODIFICATIONS (ie non factory spec) have you SISSIs made LOL .

I STILL dont see why, if you buy a fast car, you should drive like a complete ********??? Can't you just enjoy the calm way it can overtake anything safely? The way it can cruise at Motorway speeds without the engine turning over at much more than 2750RPM?
Nah, sorry - driving around like a RoyBacer is of no interest to me whatsoever ............. I DO give it a blow out now and again, BUT its a myth that it is illegal to drive normally in a fast car!!

As I'm trying to save some money at the moment, I thought the best way would be to conserve fuel and I applied the following techniques:
1. Never let push accelerator all the way to the floor.
2. Change up around 4000-4500 rpm
3. take as much speed through the corners as is safely possible thus reducing brake wear and negating the need to accelerate like a loon on the next straight.
It seems to be working and I'm now getting 250-275mpg for an average tank of fuel rather than 200-220. Not only that but I'm still having as much fun as I ever did, I even had a play with an Audi S4 that was really going for it on some country roads and kept up pretty easily.

it's the impreza!! my dad is 67 he drives a td4 freelander and got his first points a few months ago driving my bug eye , i could'nt sit behind a truck doing 50 mph with 265bhp under my right foot impossable i have only 3points which i got cause i could'nt keep me gob shut when i got pulled for having my front fogs on in the rain and i was in an astra not a scooby .
as for the gold wheels tell that to prodrive as i do belive the world rally car has gold alloys and that is one top motor .
i was in my scooby dealer yesterday and a teacher came in complaining that he no longer got 38mpg out of his 02 sti and what had they done when it was serviced , i am lucky to get 18mpg!!

This has to be a wind up, and we're all falling for it.
Bet the meetings are great,
"What zorst have you got"
"Standard, how about you"
"Standard what engine management?"
"Standard"....
"Wow take a drive in John's"
"What's it like"
"Well it's exactly like mine actually and your's for that matter"
"Great"
"More muesli anyone?"
The John Major of Scooby Ownership. They are great cars and motoring icons. Subaru did a great job of making the cars to a budget and making them all things to all people. I can't see anything wrong with tailoring them to one's individual style.
I mean you could always transplant in one of those far more economical 1.6 engines, get some lovely 14's with remoulds and get a sport bonnet to get rid of that nasty bulge etc...

Well I personally think that anyone who spends £1,000's extracting another little bit of BHP out of their car are COMPLETELY BONKERS!!!
I mean, I am an old driver with vast experience and can wee wee over a P1 driven by some kiddie of under 30 - in my STANDARD Impreza!! sadly, for you lot - you cannot buy my skills, you need to develop them!!
I have my own PPP which comes with years of experience:-
P etes
P erfect
P erformance
The SISI club meets are great fun, we get all the prices for Mods and have a damned good laugh!! I mean £2000 to get about 30BHP more when you dont notice it AND can't use it ANYWHERE!!
We invite talks from retired managers of tuning companies and we have a great laugh watching videos of kiddies buying HUGE spoilers, HUGE exhausts, Sports ECU's and such!!
We have comedy evenings of actors lying by exhausts and recording the sound!! do we pi55 ourselves?? youre dead right we do!!
We have a blindfolded Power Graph game where we scribble some lines on a piece of graph paper and then leave it lying around on a Rolling Road day and watch as kiddies take it into the loos and 'Get-Off' on the BHP/Torque/Power/Time/RPM graph!!!
Such FUN!!!
