I'm basically fed-up with the RS boys continually going on about kicking Scooby butt all the time on the road, and have decided it needs to be settled once and for all.
This is what I've arranged

Stef,

I agree with David. I am sure both us lot and the RS boys would like to come along to support our respective marks. I am (foolishly I think) going to name myself as one of your umpteenth reserves if someone doesn't make it for category no. 2!

Plus the suggestion that other marks support the event might not be so bad, could make a great day of it!

Regards,

Kevin

Does any part of the competition depend on the driver, or is it just based on the machine?

If so, I would gladly offer my services should they be required.

Any excuse to get into a Scooby again!!! hehe

Regards

Mike,
Isn't it in the RS boys interest to bring a quick Cossie as the fully monty job? If so, why are you putting yours forward, har har.
I'll be there, ready to be humbled! Or laugh.

The final dates and venues have yet to be decided, but I will of course let you all know. I think it would be great to have supporters there from both sides.
STi's were not considered for cats 1 or 2 as they are not UK cars. We hope to have a 22B for cat 3, but I think it'll have its work cut out!
There will be one person driving the cars for some sections, but he will be provided by the mag (sorry Simon! ).
It appears the RS lads are having trouble finding anyone for cat 2, and want to use a car with a stage 1 chip, bless 'em!!!
I will keep you posted.

Stef.

Dear Stef,
As you know, I only suggested this because the standard Cossie ECU will not allow the boost to go above 10psi (or it shuts everything down), the ECU on a Scooby will allow at least 17/18psi before it does this (which is equivalent to Stage 1 boost on a Cossie) - I just thought you wanted a level playing field, as it doesn't take a genius to work out that a car with 13 psi (the Scoob norm) is going to be more powerful than a car with 10psi (the Cossie norm).

Stef..

No probs, just thought I'd offer!

I'd think seriously before using a 22B for the 3rd class though. A heavily modded RA or similar will kick it's bottom in most situations.

If you let me know what the tests are, and what kind of driver is doing it if you have any info, I should be able to give you a good idea as to the best car for the job.

Let me know

Cheers

Simon

Yeah, suppose it wouldn't be fair on the little RS holes if you bring along STis against their standard cars. Although it would be an interesting, "off the record" comparison. If you want that, I'll be up for it.

Question

Stef,

Mark from Scotland would probably be interested in taking part in his modified STi IV for category 3. He has 400+bhp, with uprated greabox, diffs etc, as well as massive AP brakes (need 18 inch wheels), and can run up to 2 bar of boost for short periods of time (steel engine internals).

seen this car at knockhill mike. Quite quick but nothing to worry about in terms of straight line. He seemed to be about 1 min around knockhill so his lap times were very good. It actually only lives 7 miles away from where i stay.

Unfortunatly i have not come against it on the road as yet...god knows where he hides...i ve been looking for him for AGES

Erm Steven.
A 400bhp (supposedly) Impreza is nothing for Mike to worry about in a straight line? Bearing in mind he struggles against Stef with 260ish!
One of these days Mike will leave me with egg on my face, methinks!

Mike,

you may be safe, as I hear Mark is actually thinking of selling his car, to buy something even faster and/or more expensive. If he hasn't sold it by April 28th, then he'll be running his car around Knockhill with the rest of us.

I've already e-mailed Stef his phone number, so you'll have to bribe him as well

Regarding acronyms for the letters FORD,

did you know that "coarser word for sh*t" is an anagram of "ford sierra cosworth"

as is "corridors of wreaths", "fords hot car worries" and "hows sirs fart corrode"

Craig H,
If you speak to Stef, even he will tell you he has problems overtaking ordinary Imprezzas on the straights at Dono (hence being held up by some people when he was trying to catch me, but whereas I wasn't), it is the corner speed of him in his car that is impressive.... (which is why he walks like John Wayne - his kahoonas get in the way! ).

Craig,
And I WAS going to offer you a ride out at the next track day at Donington (or EVEN better Snetterton) so you'd know for yourself. But you'll have to do some serious ***-licking now....
