Was sitting in the car with the engine ticking over talking to my mate.
Turned the engine off. Key still in the ignition. Not lights on.
Talked to my nate for about 2 hrs.
Pressed alarm fobby to de-activate immobiliser.
Nothing.
Took key out and try to put alarm on nothing.
Couldnt figure how to use key pad so went to get spare key think battery on fobby is dead.
Spare fobby not work either.
Finally figured how to work key pad.
Drove home and got out of car and armed alarm.
All working ok now.

Anyone else experienced this?

heard of this before but not experienced it - lots of people put it down to interference from telephone masts and the like...

Had same problem near town centre, its got something to do with transmitters as said above. I think its the police transmitters that do it, i now try to avoid leaving my car in the area as when you get out you cant alarm car and thus you cant deactivate immobiliser when you get back in it.

You could try holding fob under yer chin when pressing button!!!

Or walk round the car pressing the fob cos it may activate it in a different place.

Just a guess, were you next to / near a police station, as some scoob alarm /immob's seems to be on the same freq.

BTW if its a new car (<3 yrs) i think they will replace FOC.

I've had this numerous times. I've since had the "mod" done to change the frequency band.

Had this with my forester in france in the summer. Managed to arm & disarm the alrm by holding the blipper in front of the windscreen. It's never done it before or after.

also had this prob - got the door open with the keys and alarm blaring - did anyone stop to wonder what was going on and that I was fiddling around with the keypad in the glovebox to switch it off? No!
No wonder cars get nicked in broad daylight!
