i have just purchased a 1995 wrx import i was told i could find out more about my particular car on a web site using the vin plate anybody know of this site if so could you let me have the address cheers for any help

The site there are probably referring to is the SIDC and to the FAQ (frequently asked questions), heres the link :

If you look in section 2.1.1 it lists the model runs. On your VIN plate there is a model code 7 alphnumeric character. If its a 1995 WRX then it should be one of the following.
GC8C48D (256bhp) - 4 door WRX
GC8C47D (256bhp) - 4 door WRX RA
GF8C58D (215bhp) - 5 door
There was also an STI RA which has the model code as the WRX RA but had 272bhp
