Mate of mine has a query that MS have failed to answer for the last few months....can anyone help ?
I currently have a copy of windows 98 (second edition) on my main PC and a copy of windows 95 on my laptop, both I have licenses for. I am interested in upgrading my Laptop to windows 98 so that I can network both units when backing up. What is the the most efficient way of doing this? can I buy an extension of my 98 licence to cover two machines? people have suggested that as I am not using both at once I do not require two licences? we are a small business and may add further machines in the future, is there a plan that I can expand upon?
Cheers
Dave

I'd buy an upgrade Win98 license for the Win95 box. The licenses will be seperate, and unfortunately Microsoft don't allow concurrent (ie two machines, software only used on one at a time)licensing.
You could buy a WinXP license and use that for the Win98 license - MS allow "backward" licensing.

I'm with Miles.
If you can't find a Win 98SE upgrade, then a Win ME or XP upgrade should include downgrade rights to install Win 98 on your lappy.
Watch out for cheap OEM copies of 98SE which the MS T&Cs state should only be sold with a PC or hardware like a HD.
Chris.
