Question

I've so far had my servicing done at K T Green's in Bradford (they are nearest to my work) but I'm not mega impressed. Nothing wrong with the work they do particularly, but they are bad at returning phone calls and I'm having to wait 9 days for better mats instead of 2 because I "missed the order deadline by 10 minutes"! I ask you! Never heard of Parcelforce?

I feel a bit like I have to please them instead of the other way around.

So - anyone got any recommendations?

Ta,

Steve

Question

Any opinions then?

I was wondering about R N Golden in Huddersfield, or even the Well Lane Turbo Centre in Batley (although the guy there obviously thought I could'nt afford an Impreza when I was looking to buy a car - not a good sign!)

Any input gratefully receieved.

Cheers,

Steve

Question

I'm getting mine serviced there tomorrow - will let you know.

Have always found them OK. They were a bit arrogant when I bought the car, but I thought that was down to the fact that I got my hands on the car I wanted at very short notice, when others were on the waiting list.

Question

I use K T Green that's out towards Otley - seem pretty good. Well Lane isn't a franchised dealer, but they seem to know their stuff.

Thanks for the input guys. I might go visit R N Golden for the next service and see what they're like.

Maybe I'm just not used to franchised dealers - all my previous cars have been cheap and boring enough to risk getting them done at Halfords, the Halfords in Thornbury (Bradford) has a top bloke for a garage manager, and a couple of decent mechanics too. Fixed prices, and they've even done work for free for me because they knew I was a good customer - why can't main dealers work like this?

Paul - thanks. Had a look at the link, I'll check them out too...

Re the Northern meet - I'm interested, but I've not plucked up the courage yet (if I go, I'll be admitting I'm obsessed and my girlfriend will take the pi$$ constantly...)

R.N.Golden's where excellent when I had my car serviced. Only problem was the cost.
£147 I think for the 37,500 oil change type service.

Quoted about £330-390 + VAT over the phone a couple of weeks back for the 45K service.

As Paul has said I've got my car in at Auto-Tecnica tomorrow for the above 45K service, and he's quoted £250 + VAT. All Subaru parts e.t.c. same day, courtesy car e.t.c.
I'll let everybody know on this thread how it goes, but on past experience with Steve, it should be excellent.

N/W meet should be excellent, be there or be a Cossie driver !!!

Darren.

Thanks for all the responses. My next service is the 37.5K one, and will probably be my last under warranty, so I think I'll go to R N Golden's (and get it checked for piston slap before it's too late for a "free" engine...).

I'll check out Auto-Tecnica and Well Lane for the 45k....

Cheers!

Auto Tecnica Report

Service went excellent, no courtesy car's available but took me back to work e.t.c.

Found, Diagnosed and Fixed problem with one coil pack, short time, so not much labour cost. Lee the mechanic is very good, car runs and feels a lot smoother.
Told them I thought the gearbox was grating a bit, agreed, and renewed the transmission oil with new fully synthetic top spec oil. Very smooth now, down to second and down to 1st are 200% better.

Car now feels a lot better through the rev range, and a lot smoother. It's never felt so good.

Don't think I'll be taking my car anywhere else.

Darren.
