280hp 1994 imprezas??
#1
I was just checking autotrader to see what sort of competition my add has. There are tons of 93/94 WRXs for sale in my area where the adds quote 280hp and very few metion mods. Am i right in thinking that the most any 94 WRX had was 240ps and that's running on Jap fuel.
Everyone who phones me keeps asking if my car has 280hp??? No it doesn't!!! Should i lie ans just tell them it does and claim ignorance like all the other adverts???

Have a look at the sidc web site and look in the FAQ section but I'm pretty sure there were no 280 ps cars then.

That's where i got the info from when i bought my car. I've got a link on my advert that explains the 220-240hp thing on early cars... i just hope people read it and realize that my car is the same spec as these supossed 280hp 93/94 cars. I think i'll put a link to the SIDC FAQ on the advert!! I'm just thinking if these other sellers know that their cars are not 280hp?? I' don't think they do...

It's just starting to p155 me off when i tell people my car only has about 210hp and they're instantly put off.
I think from now on i'll just deny all knowledge and say "erm... i dunno mate... i think it's 280". Probably the only way i can compete with the other adverts.....oh well.... guess i should just lock my morals away till my car is sold.

sorry may have read post wrong. was just sayin they do a 260 hp wrx as well. m8s just imported one and had it rolling roaded at that then with centre section and back box got 274. at the rolling road the guy said a lot of people when selling say its a 260 model and not a 240 like most of them are.

Have a look at either SIDC or Ravensblade you will find plenty of info regarding the specs...
SIDC is at http://www.sidc.co.uk/
and
Ravensblade at http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com
However you will probably find that a few of these early cars have mods which take them much higher up the HP ladder. The early WRX engine was closed deck and the STi version had forged pistons and both were much stronger than the later engines which were built to a different spec because of a change in rules for the WRC.
My car is a MY93 WRX (JDM) originally 240bhp
however it was rolling road tested at 287bhp at Power Engineering after the following mods.
Type RA ECU (from 260BHP model)
Full de-cat Mongoose Exhaust
Running 1.0 Bar boost
It has since been further modified but that's what it produced back then with just the ECU and exhaust change.

Yep i agree on the above.
Esoteric beast has 280 bhp standard on his 1994 but his is one of the earlier stis and its very nice to
So maybe all the 93/94 that are saying 280bhp, are confusing themselves with the early sti's!

In Japan, home of Subaru Impreza, the standard model is known as the WRX (not to be confused with the Australian WRX). Most of the current 2 and 4 door models produce 280 PS (276 BHP, on Japanese 100 RON super unleaded fuel, and between 240 to 260 lb ft of torque.
is this correct?? im sure import WRX's are either 236 or 256 BHP
