David,
I have just received an e-mail from Stephen Sutcliffe to say that I am on the shortlist. However, I won't hold my breath as this is what he said:
"You're on the shortlist, but at the moment the shortlist is getting longer by the minute. It currently consists of some quite rediculous sounding cars. i.e. a 1000bhp Skyline, a 750bhp RS200, a 700bhp Cobra...
Can we leave it that I'll be in touch when we have a definite date for the story, which at the moment looks more like being early to mid-May."

Oh well, I thought my car was fast, but put up against this kind of machinery will be like running a R5 against an Impreza.

Surely you can 'borrow' Sheedy's 545bhp lump - it'll work wonders with that welded up diff of yours!

Let me know what happens.

A guy a work told me he thought the current road going car record is held by an Ultima GTR. Not really surprised and after seeing the spec .

cheers

I believe the 'official' record is held by the Mclaren F1 GTM. About 11.5 secs or something daft!
Has the Ultima beaten it then?

Stef.

Stef,
No, the record is still held by the F1 LM. Before that a Dax Rush (400bhp Cossie engined with 4wd) and before that the RS200 that I am pictured in on our web-site (www.rsnorfolk.co.uk), which will be put on the dyno this week or next in an attempt to get a genuine 600+bhp out of the Brian Hart 2.1 Evolution engine....(to retake the record).

I recently did the engine management system on Will Gollops old BiTurbo 6R4. It was way to larey to set up on the rolling road so we mapped it on Endstone airfield. I got to do the driving, it was unreal this thing has 750bhp. It alledgedly does 0-100 in 2.9seconds, I would like to bet that this could easily get this record. Check out the MPEG of me driving it on our web site.

Rich,

I think the car has to be road legal, and must be driven to/from the venue to qualify. I'm not sure that Will's ex 6R4 would be road legal, but I'd love to be a passenger in it regardless !!

I know someone with a road legal 6R4 but I think it only has about 500bhp

can confirm that acceleration is of the whiplash variety

Triva Time....

There is (or was!) a Metro 6R4 in the Williams F1 museum at their site in Oxford. Apparently, Patrick Head liked it!

It's just down from the Ferrari F1 car.

Chris.

Chris

Williams designed the 6R4 for Rover. I think thats why they have one in their museum.

williams designed the transmission in the 6R4, not the whole car.

The transmission was the week link sadly, they should have got a rally expert like Xtrac to do it, the F1 spec stuff was too fragile.
