Index Plates
I not sure I like the Idea of anybody knowing how old my brand new car is for ever and a day
Also dont like the idea of personal plate that ******* will remember
What about something like
T34WVP
Means nothing, does not stand out and makes the car look a few years older, costs about £250.00
Other wise it will be something like WR03SDW
any comments on this, as I am looking for the stealth approach to indexes also what will the cops reaction be to older plates on a new car.

If a Police officer does a check on the car and it comes back to the car, whatever the year of the plate, there will be no problem, and that doesnt mean you will get pulled over, a check whilst moving only takes a few seconds.

cant see there being any problem at all
you can put any plate on your car that is available, as long as you dont make the car newer than what it is
and there are so many plain ones for sale on dvla web site
on saying that Ive just ordered mine which isnt plain

dont get hung up on the plates. my previous car plate was used in manchester on the same make, model and colour car as mine, involved in a hit and run a numerous nips. gave me real hassle.
moral is that someone somewhere only needs to see a plate once for it to be used fraudulently. i'd say a more memorable plate is less likely to be used by toerags cos it attracts more attention.

thanks for the reply, but it made me wonder if the police officer is more lightly to do a check in the firt place.
Sonic'
I wondered if the letters and numbers in certain orders stick out ie names and ends of words
Some letters look like numbers such as S5 AND O FOR (OSCAR) AND 0 the NUMBER
chrisp
thanks for looking that up, not a bad idea m8

Never though of that, still there is a difference in a vehicle used in crime and crime against a vehicle.
It is more lightly to be noticed and damaged then stolen and used for crime.
How about me saving £250.00 and not bothering just to **** the neighbours off

Well I would always run a check on a plate that didnt seem to fit the car...but than im into cars and sadly tend to know what years shapes changed etc, but i would always check any performance car where i am because theres a large percentage of stolen ones where i work, and they rarely bother changing the plates.
Most coppers wouldnt even notice from my experience...excluding petrolheads.

I dunno how much notice the police would normally take of a plate that didn't match the year.
What I did notice was that when i got stopped yesterday, the officer asked me what year my 94 WRX was (despite the plate matching the year). That the first time I've ever been asked that question. I reckon it was just because it was an import.

From the rear when being followed impreza's look alike, so the age of the car is not as big an issue as with some makes of vehicle
Do you class a impreza wrx as a performance vehicle?

Yes some numbers & letters do stand out more, hence the reaon behind my choice of plate and luckily without altering the font, size, change with fixing bolts etc so I can stay on the right side of law
Isnt it more common these days now, for the toe rags to copy a number plate and put this onto a matching stolen vehicle, so that if a vehicle check is done, it wont come up as stolen
I imagine this is one of the reasons why the law is changing so that when purchasing new plates/replacements you now have to take some form of id proving that you own the plate

I think that they copy the first car they see that matches their stolen one.
I think personally that the theif would want a normal looking plate, just to try and blend in.
Dave.
