try looking on the label that is usually found at the bottom of the seat belt, either the front or back ones..

I wouldn't panic just yet..... Model Year 98 came out late 97 (September???) . The obviuos difference between MY97 and MY98 is the dash change (the seats were the same).

When was your car registered and whats the model code on the vin plate?

Tony.

The '98 model, which had the forrester dash and 16" wheels, was available in late '97. The bucket seats were part of the previous update.

Sounds like you've got nothing to worry about.

Thumbs up

Chris,
Don't panic mate, I have a Dec1997 reg turbo but it is a 98 model, mine is 3 weeks off being a 98, it has all the stuff in it a 98 model should have,i.e. bucket seats, white dials, momo steering wheel with airbag.
Cheers
Colin

The MY does not run as a calander year.

Don't mix up your reg year and your model year.

Model years generally start as the new reg year starts.

MY changes were September to September in the UK (so a MY98 is Sept97 to Sept98) until the bugeye came out and wrecked it

In theory yes but not always correct back in the days of import quotas cars took ages to get here by boat and were in short supply (18 month waiting lists some garages were quoting), so you took what you could get. I had a brand new MY98 registered in October 1998 because if I wanted an MY99 it would be another 3 months as they hadnt got any spare and I was lucky and got a cancellation order and only waited 6 months. The model changes were usually consistent with the UK motorshow.
