Question

Getting PPP on Tuesday. Lots of postings on Optimax, any other PPP WRX owners using it?
Cheers, Mark.

Cool

Its reccommended that if you want the best performance out of your car when its fitted with the PPP that you use SUL and not normal UL.
All the power figures given for the PPP are with 97ron fuel and not 95 (ie 246bhp and 261lbs of torque).
To be honest with you i run my MY00 PPP'd turbo on optimax but havnt really found any improvement (ive ran the car on SUL from 7miles on the clock so i probably wont benefit as much as others who come from UL to SUL).
If your running your WRX on UL then id say go for it as 98.6ron is better than both 95 and 97ron (and you may see gains in performance and economy! )
Big YES in other words

Thumbs up

Mark

I am another member of the "I'm doing it without proof" crew like Tony.

Shell has put a lot of work into combustion technology in order to improve F1 engines and allow them to rev as high as they can. Equally, a higher octane rating is generally a better thing. Whether it suits a Scooby is another matter.

My MY01 has always been run on Optimax. Is it better than the other fuels? I don't know, I'm not willing to put lower grade fuel in to find out.

Exclamation

After what Dingy said about Optimax,it worried me enough to change back to SUL in the ole cossy, but then i am paranoid on everything to do with my engine,as it blew up big styley and cost me rather a lot of dough to replace!!!

Optimax is an excellent fuel - not subjective carp but objective analysis. It should enhance the PPP as the WRX01 has real time ignition advance and det control, and benefits from higher RON fuel.

I find the other posts extremely disappointing.

Optimax is the first fuel I have driven out of my way to use. I find my MY01 PPP to be hestitant when used on other Super Unleaded. The only time the car feels spot on is with Optimax

Just stuck in Optimax in mine after using Esso SUL almost exclusivly (cheaper). can't say I've noticed any difference, but given their investment in it I'm sure it is probably a superior product.

Posts on this and other threads seem to vary wildly from, crap to no difference and AWESOME!!!! I can only suggest you get a tankful and see for yourself!

I have used Optimax in my UK300 with PPP since it came out and am happy with it. It definately seems to lose the hesitancy it had on regular unleaded, and feels smoother.
I cant scientifically say it is better, but like others, I dont want to change to something else to find out that its worse.
