Is the track as special as it looks?
All thoughts/experiences much appreciated as considering bookingsomething there for next year and it's a 2,000 mile round trip!
Will I be ?

Go before they drop it from the calendar.
As F1 goes East, Spa is one of the circuits which could be dropped, particulary as the Belgians are firmly against tobacco advertising.
Prepare for wet weather as it normally rains and that means muddy car parks too.
It's a long circuit so don't expect to be able to walk round it all during the race to get a selection of vantage points (as you can do at some other circuits).
Yes it is special. But you knew that already...
I went in '98. The year when they had that almighty pile up at the start and Damon Hill won for Eddie Jordan.
Didn't see any of the pile up at the start but was perched on an embankment directly behind the incident when Schumi collided with DC ripping off his front right wheel.
Un-be-lieveable!
The wheel (complete with hub, disc and caliper) went around 100' into the air and landed in some fenced off area where there were no spectators. Saw some lucky marshall carrying it off later, over his shoulder with a lenghth ow wishbone still attached! Nice souvenir!
Saw some of the Porsche Supercup cars going through Eau Rouge. V.impressive.
You can stay in Brussels and drive to the circuit. It wasn't much more than a hour from memory. Leaving after the race took a couple of hours to get out of the car parks though.

Are you going to watch or going to play on track?
I am gonna do Spa next year with Wheeltorque, for 2 days, then do the Ring and tour a bit of France with the Girlfriend over a two week holiday. Should be fun never driven it before.
Post up when you go. Sorry I can't remember the site address, for the track company. Spa also has its own website.

I've been to Spa many times and its one of the greatest circuits.
Not sure if you meant going to watch F1 or do a track day but both good.
It only an extra hour to get to the Nurburgring just over the border in Germany.
Spa has one of the best height changes of any modern circuit. Or as Murray Walker put it "lots of hills, and not just down but up as well!"
Definately take good waterproofs and wellies or similar as it ALWAYS rains at Spa, even in August.
I've been around Spa in a car, on many diferent motorbikes and in the back of my mates cosworth turbo transit at 1.00 am in the rain with the theme from the Exorcist blaring from his mega stereo!
Go, you won't regret it (unless you don't like rain)

Thats the one, let me know if you go. Bit of rain won't stop me, adds to the attraction. Your Exige has enough grip in the wet for you to enjoy it.
Spa must be the 2nd Best circuit behind the Ring in Europe by a clear mile.

Yeah, agree. Spa and the 'ring are both good. You mustn't do one without the other. It really is only one hour away. Check the map. Head due east from Spa, no more than 50 miles to the 'ring.
Check dates first so you can arrange to take in the 'ring either before or after Spa. I made the mistake once of just popping along to the 'ring but it was closed all day for a private session. Check out the availability on the 'ring web sites.
Remember though that the 'ring is 10 times more challenging/dangerous/rewarding than Spa.
Enjoy
