Just got a white MY01, but I am a bit of a scooby novice.

When changing from 3rd to 4th at speed it tends to crunch a little?? This car has jone 2400 miles, Dutch import, but, so I was told registered with IM for the warranty. It has a fully scooby sport system, and ITG filter. What do you reckon my chances of having this covered via the warranty? I am a bit upset, only got it yesterday.

Apart from that it the dogs nuts!!

Advise please......

It doesnt sound like a clutch problem... that would be noticable going down the gears. Does the same thing happen going 5th to 4th ??? - perhaps a selector problem on the gearbox - is your car under 1 year old ? - it should be covered regardless then...... Best go to your local dealer ! Good luck.....

Davyboy,

Got my new one yesterday - no probs with the gearshift fortunately. Mine from Belgium.

As for warranty - need to make sure that it had a PDI from the original dealer and 1 000 mile service as well.

Warranty is pan european. Are the bits from Prodrive or Scooby Sport. Prodrive bits get the warranty, not sure about SS.

I found some good stuff going back through old postings - try the dealer bit.

Nigel

Oh dear!

It's happened to me twice on different scoobs.

The dealer changed the synchro the first time without question but left a final drive whine in it's place

The second time I went to anther dealer and they changed the gear oil and then gave up - they said they 'all do that' !

These were UK cars......

Well my 5 door doesn't do that after 14k miles.

My advice is go take it to a dealer and find out. How old is the car? 12 months is defo covered wherever it came from. Obviously the easier it is for IM to get their money back from Subaru Holland the more inclined they'll be to do something about it.

Alternatively you could contact thegarage it was originally purchased from and ask their advice?

It is 6 months old. I really hope I do not have hassles over this one. I have wanted an Impreza for years, I get the cash together and then this happens.....bugger.

Don't full Scoobysport exhaust systems invalidate the warranty - even for UK cars ?

You are removing the 2 standard Cats - not that it has anything to do with gearchanges. but IM may use this as their excuse not to support the warranty.

Sometimes I have problems changing down from 5th into 4th and occasionaly from 1st to 2nd. Usually happens when I'm trying to change gear fast. I'm going to mention it to the dealer at its next service (in 2000 miles)
