I`VE FOUND HEAVEN....[A414]

Want a good bit of road?
Bit of a drive ... but, the road that links mid way up loch lomond, back into Glasgow down the side of loch long. It is like a roller coastor. Twists, humps, bends, sudden drops, hairpins, it has every thing, it made driving even my escort fun, taking air at 35mph, that is how undulating the road is!!!
Only problem is that cars will come the other way and it is a bit of a narrow road, have to divert into the over hanging foliage to pass another car.
Anyone know the road I mean? Or is a case of rose tinted glasses.
Cause you take the high road and i'll take the low road and I'll get to scotland before you in my Escort 1.8d.
Only took 6hours and 8 minutes to get from reading into the centre of Glasgow, with one fuel stop at the boarder.

Loads of good roads north out of Glasgow My best mate lives in Helensburgh and I always enjoy having the scoob when I'm up there, roads are usually empty too
My favourite one down south is the A272 off of the A/M23, always good for a bit of a strop when going to the Goodwood Festival

For 'checking' your top end the M45 (God's forgotten motorway)is the business links the m1 to Coventry about 8 miles of flat straight dual carrriageway without another sole on it.
Of coure the conditions need to be right and the road clear an all that.
Before anyone gives me grief about public roads and saftey - feel free as long as you have never ever, ever exceeded the speed limits in the UK.

Don't get me wrong - i much prefer the twisty bits (much more challenging and rewarding) but ther is a certain 'rush' from seeing your speedo pass 150 and watch the world flash past @ 2.5 miles a minute.

nexuas ,
hmm , the road that you are talking about (A814 i think ) from faslane to arrochar is fun , however i would not speed on it due to oncoming cars in the middle of the road , sheep and motorcyclists , as this road is renowned for accidents, many fatal. however the scenery is superb and the bumps are fun.

Until one of the many pheasants that populate the A414 in the Hatfield/Hertford area smashes straight through your windscreen, killing you instantly and then your dead body careering across the road in your car taking out anyone else in the vicinity. Be careful out there A414 is also a haven for unmarked cars.

The A814 - heard good reports about that road. The B roads and unclassified roads nearby are meant to be great too.
