Question

Get my new MY01, in a couple of weeks, but it has no Alarm being a Euro Import.

I was looking at putting a Clifford concept 300 on it, at £400.

I am just curious if.

1. Is that a good price ?
2. Is it a good alarm ?
3. Anyone had any problems.

They also want £50 for a turbo timer. Is it worh it ??

There are also some higher spec alarms (500 & 600) is it worth spending the extra ??

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Olly.

I found the Clifford Concept 300 a good and fair priced alarm but get the tilt + motion sensor installed, its worth the extra.

Cool

hi
i too am in a simlar position ie needing an alarm. i was thinking of the concept 300 and have been quoted £340 to £360 fitted.
also wondering about the meta aquilla...anyone know much about them?
one scooby member has one fitted but thats the only one i know of.
Also though about a toad C5t2.

it does your brain in. So many choices so little hard information on the real differences between them even in general terms.
Say where do you look to find comparisons:
for example a reputable source that might say "clifford market leaders, always innovative but you pay top price" or "sigma not state of the art but very good at what it does etc. etc ."
oh well back to eastenders to cool down!

Nightmare !!

So many products to choose from.

I am going for Clifford, as I had a scorpion before, and it was sh!te.

Seems like you got quoted a good price navigator. Shame I live nowhere near Brum.

Oh well.

Thumbs up

I decided to pay a bit extra for the Clifford Concept 600. Basic differences are: BlackJax, additional wireless immobiliser points, digital tilt/motion sensor & dual zone digital prox sensor. I have also had the remote engine start added. For me the BlackJax was the most significant difference in the 300 & 600. If money permits I would add the glass tampering sensor as well as the turbo timer. Hope this helps.
Andy.

If Coulsdon South is anywhere near you I can vouch for the installer at Sound-Offs (020 86450655). The guy used to work on Subarus & the installation work on my STi was impeccable.
Absolutely top job at a competitive price compared with other Clifford installers.

i had a concept 300 on my last scoob, it was great, only downside was that it wasnt full closure, they wanted £90 per pair of windows to add that on, my mates just had one on his carlton gsi and his does his windows for no extra though

tarmacterrorist,

Looks like you got some dosh !!

Couldnt quite figure out how anti hijack works.

Also that dual proximity sensor seemed like a waste, as I have seen a few cars with these on, and all day they get flocks of kids etc deliberaty walking up to them and setting off the "you are too close" alert.

Do you suffer from this ?

Also looking at that remote engine start, I can see one day, you will press the button and it will not only start the engine remotley, but drive up to your door.

Ah, the future !!

BlackJax can be a pain as you need to punch in a code every time any door is open & then closed then drive off. The dual prox is not a problem for me as I also had the omni sensor added & set correctly. I do not have the talking bit enabled but do have the warning tone enabled. After approx 2-3 weeks you need to check & readjust (if necessary) the settings for the sensors. The remote start is kind of a gimmick but has its uses when its really cold as you can have the air con running for a few minutes before you set off (quite handy). Sounds like you have opted for the Clifford but which one ?

Oily, get the 600 this is cat 1 and well worth the extra. The black jax system you get with it is a excellent feature especially with the alarming rise in car jacking and theft of keys.

I paid £550, i'm sure you can get it for the same if you barter.

I went to Sound Offs in Coulsdon in '99. Very good install but the owner was clearly having a bad day as he was very rude. Not normally worried about these things but it stuck in my mind.(I was only making light conversation while he filled in the certificate) Haven't been back, been to other Clifford dealer.

Word of Warning to everyone. Don't talk about the exact system and any options you have on your car. You don't know whose reading all this. Im not being paranoid, just relaying something that was mentioned on the RSOC a while back, by a alarm installer.

Cheers!

I spoke to another dealer today,

said he would do the concept 300, with tilt & TT, and glass sensors for £450 all in.

I think this is a good price.

mega_stream

That sounds like a good deal.

What was the company name ??

I used to have a meta aquilla on my old car.. + total closure... never had any problems with it...

Think it consists of m99t and m36t??

It is two seperate boxes connected together...

Spend the extra money and get 600... just for blackjax...

I am getting the concept 600 for mine and also paying an extra 90 quid for what I expect is a relay just to provide total closure on the rear windows...

oh and they are going to throw in remote headlight activation... whoopy doo.. what use use is that? I park in my garage... could throw in free total closure or an extra siren...

(Meant to say that a mate has a concept 300 and the auto arming is annoying.. might just be him though as he is a bit thick..)

David
