good deal or not

Recently baught a Y2k V plate Impreza turbo AWD wagon.
I got it for £10500 from a reputable well known local dealer,it has done 49000 miles, but has a full Subaru main dealer service history.
Got the AA to do a comprehensive inspection of the car and he said it needed a few things put right, tyres, anti roll bushes, new front discs and pads, which the dealer put right, with new ones, other than that ,he said it was a sweet car.
Anyway do you think I got a good deal or not.

That's a VERY good price - I'm looking a 99V with 60K on the clock for £14K from a Subaru Main dealer.
R U sure it's a UK model?
Has it had the BIG 45K service?
If it has, I'd still be wary - seems very cheap (or I'm being ripped off!!!)

Its just had the cam belt service and all is above board, according to the AA anyway.Got a few friends in the trade which know the dealer and they say he is fair and pretty honest.
It might have helped that I know some of his colleauges.
PS Main dealers do charge more than independant dealers,14k sounds quite a lot to me.

Davy, Parkers price is £11k for A1 / £10.4k for good condition so it certainly seems like a fair price from a dealer.
Dan, £14k for a 60k miler - get real! Parkers A1 price is around £9.5k. High mileage kills a scooby's value...

The thing about prices on ScoobyNet is this -
everybody on here wants something for nothing.
Look at the Subaru dealer network (website). Search for a 99V reg, and they're all the same price.
Makes you think who is actually forcing down prices of Scoobs.
Dan
PS high miles don't kill Scoobs' value, lack of servicing and poor condition/maintainence does.

Scoobydoo, I recently got a my00 w reg 4 door in dark mica blue
with 60k on the clock for £10,995 from a dealer (not subaru)
fssh (just had 60k service).I phoned the subaru dealer on the servicebook and they were very helpfull and gave me the history regardingservices on the phone, so the deal was done and I saved myself nearly 3 grand on the subaru dealers price,
I have since found that you can get better deals on this forum
but life's to short to start thinking (have I done the right
thing.Anyway I think 14k is way too much money for a car thats
done 60 thousand miles, its just as much fun looking for the
right car! Happy hunting Taffyboyo!

Parkers may only be a guide but most people use it...£14k will get you a nice low mileage example, especially as the dealer discounts on new ones is pushing prices down across the board.

Granted Tommy - in light of that fact, I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to discuss a few things
The mileage is only a problem in relation to the price. This will be rectified. Personally, I really don't have a problem with miles - I know I've got 30,000 miles until an expensive service (in my experience, about 3yrs).
I've even looked in TopMarques/Autotrader - for the same price, I'm still looking at in general cars with 40/50K on the clock (with exception of 2- one had 13K and the other had 18K).
Like I said, ScoobyNet is notorious for grinding the prices of everything down, to the point of virtual worthlessness.
I never sell cars privately, always p/ex them - if the dealer gives me a good price for both items, and the payments are OK (always pay using finance), then the deal is done.
All I will say, is that there is still room for 'negotiation' on this particular beast.

Dan,
Look at the car Gregh recently tried to sell on here and the price he got. MY00 PPP, uprated brakes and well cared for. I think he got about 11K for it. (Greg, please correct me on any of this) The point is IMHO you are not wise to pay dealer prices
